Interesting. We went to get our open water certification check out dive. Small pond not too far away from town. Lots of divers but didn't seem too crowded. Several non working toilets and showers; and other than air, there are no services. Platforms at 20, 25 feet and I think lower as well. We were there at the end of... More

I'm just an uneducated yokel passing through, so I didn't come here to dive. I did take a dip in the summer, and can certainly tell you it's cold. My last stop was passing through in winter, so I only observed the deep, blue water and buoys. A nice spot to stop for a picnic, or to take a cool... More

It's out in the middle of nowhere. It's much smaller than I expected. There's no fences or signs screaming "beware, danger Will Robinson..". ...no admission. You just walk up, look down into this incredibly clear water trying to imagine... I so wanted to jump in!!! ...but the 61 degree water felt too cold on a gray January day. Not sure... More

We stopped there, on our Route 66-trip through New Mexico. It was a sunny day, and we watched some kids jumping into the water. Although crystal clear, deep blue water in the desert is somehow fascinating, it serves clearly primarily as a scuba diving training spot. That said, no need to make a detour.

One of the natural wonders worth stopping off at when on Route 66. We found this place on a lovely day and although busy I just had to take a dive into the wonderfully refreshing water which is naturally at a constant temperature throughout the year. With some nice changing facilities this would undoubtedly get five out of five. Don't... More

We were on our way back to Missouri from California and I came across this place online (probably trip advisor :)), so we decided to check it out. It was back in the summer when we went and I am just writing the review, so from what I can remember all you had to pay was a parking fee. Our... More

The Blue Hole of Santa Rosa is a true Natural Wonder. It is a 60ft wide, 120ft deep aquifer coming up out of nowhere in the middle of the New Mexican desert. If you are driving on I-40 (Route 66) it takes less the five minutes from the interstate to get to the Blue Hole. My daughter and I were... More

Didn't dare jump in in the middle of winter but will certainly call back on my R66 summer drive! The depth is intriguing and would certainly like to freedive.

Another stop requested by the Boyscouts, and it was well worth it'd or them. We hit it towards the end of the day, and when most people were leaving because the rain was moving in. There were no parking lot attendants also due to the storms starting to roll in. There was a diving class going on when we arrived... More

On our way to Vegas from Maryland, we made an impromptu pit stop at this 81' deep natural water hole...and boy are we glad we did. With an exterior December temperature of 30 degrees outside, the water maintained a balmy 61 degrees(it's warm year round). Sensing a once in a lifetime opportunity, I changed into some swim shorts and me... More
