We did this famous eighty mile plus Scenic Byway drive at the beginning of October. We started out from Taos around 7:00AM. We went “clockwise” and first saw the famous “Gorge Bridge.” From route 64, you take “Old 64” about five miles east to get...More

The Rio Grande National Monument has lots of nice drives including the huge suspension bridge over the Rio Grande. There is a fun native american "mall" at the bridge parking lot with great deals on jewelry, spices and other things

Some beautiful scenery. Deer walking in the streets of Red River made a nice and different experience. All in all, it was a nice drive. A little disappointing that there was not more to see. What we saw, we enjoyed, so it was worth it.

We started out on this drive and found some interesting things along the way. The best was the entrance to the National Monument Park of the Gorge. We spent so much time there we cut the second half of the drive out. It does have...More

As New Englanders who had never viewed fall scenery anywhere but in New England, we were not at all prepared for the brilliant yellow of the aspen trees. Spectacular! Beautiful scenery, such an experience of nature at its best. Take this drive and be sure...More

The only real climb and descent is from Taos to Eagle Nest. There are not "sheer" drop-offs but you go up and over; there are guard rails, particularly on the Eagle Nest side where you drive down a heavily forested road. Not... More
