The sanctuary and work being done by the staff and mostly volunteers is highly commendable. The facility is well maintained, great decor and clean. The Penguin enclosure as far as we could see was also clean and well kept. It was worth the while stopping...More

The birds have all been injured or are ill. The sanctuary cares for them and releases the ones which recover back into the wild. The staff are very knowledgeable. There is a café, gift shop and toilets. It is free but you can make a...More

The sanctuary is free to the public, but please give a donation. The African penguins are endangered. You will learn about them and see them in an enclosed pen. Then go to the Cape of Good Hope and see them in their natural habitat.

This relatively small building houses some amazing stories. After our morning Dyer Island tour, we were told to go to the 3pm feeding at APSS. As we sat and had a lovely drip coffee, the five children (all under 10 years old) were treated to...More
