Take the road less travelled and a picnic lunch to Villanueva State Park. Tucked down along the Pecos River surrounded by sandstone bluffs. Rainbow trout are stocked spring and fall so bring your fishing tackle. Great place to spend time.

This state park is off-the-beaten path near the tiny village of Villanueva, New Mexico. It's a quiet opportunity to picnic and fish along the upper Pecos River.

This is a beautiful place. The Pecos River cuts through these hills which leaves tall hills and cliffs on either side. The walking trail is a gem, but is occasionally steep(of course). This weekend day found the park buzzing with families camping and playing, hiking,...More

This was our first time to this NM state park and it's our favorite thus far. It's secluded and therefore very peaceful. No cell service, so you can truly unwind. The camp is clean and the lower campground has flush toilets, a shower and electricity....More

This is a fairly remote but beautiful park located in a canyon alongside the Pecos River. We stayed here 4 nights on our visit to NM and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, for the most part. We were in site 8-A, which was a host site,...More

We have our family reunion there every year. The host, Gilbert, is horrible. He has no customer service whatsoever. He is rude and unprofessional.

The campground was nice and clean. Beware that the roads leading to it are very narrow. We had a 26ft travel trailer and we had to be cautious. Also, it is pretty much 30+ minutes from gas.

The gates close at 9 nightly. We had a reservation this summer. There are limited number of campsites, so I would call/reserve before making the trip out there.
