This place is just plain huge and because of that there is something for everyone. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails including the original section of the Appalachian Trail. There are sand beaches for swimming and many lakes for boating. There are mine shafts to explore, proceed at your own risk and be careful. Iona Island and Doodletown... More

While staying at the Bear Mountain Inn we were lucky enough to get a clear day to walk around the State Park. This is such a lovely and peaceful place. Along with the woods and the mountains, you can also appreciate the rescued and orphaned animals in the trail side zoo. This included a few bears. There is also an... More

Beautiful winter day.. we hiked part Appalachian trail and then the blue and yellow trail. About 8 miles total. It was not for beginners. Lots of scenic views of the Hudson and even see NYC off in the distance. We are from Long Island so it made the perfect day trip..

This is a popular place for a hike. As you follow the path to the top of the Mountain you will find yourself stopping every once in a while just to catch your breath. When you reach the top the view is breathtaking. No pun intended.

This place is a total gem - it can get really crowded for weekends and event, but especially week days and when the weather is cold, it's lovely. The zoo is a nice change of pace from the usual, where they help heal injured and orphaned animals. The lake is great for running and biking around and the carousel is... More

Such a beautiful park. Sad that visitors throw their trash down near the pools and other heavily trafficked areas. The park staff couldn't possibly keep up. Stay on the hiking trails and take a trash bag for Mother Nature!

We went here for a day in Autumn whilst all the leaves were a wonderful red and yellow colour. There are a few trails you can walk which can take a few hours at most. The one we did was fairly steep and perhaps a little dangerous at points. The views at the top are amazing.
