Really great views over the area and worth the walk. Hedges is great lodging if you need, stay away from prospect point cottages, better motels for the money!

Relatively easy hike compared to trail up Blue Mountain, but trail is more scenic and interesting than most. Good trail, well marked not eroded. Highly recommended for all ages.

Parking area is at the end of Maple Lodge Rd., and you pass through what appears to be a private conference center before reaching the trailhead. There is a shorter trail that can be taken out and back, or a slightly longer loop can be...More

We loved this hike. We stayed at the Hedges and you could see the rock from our cabin. We spent a beautiful September day doing this hike. It's not what I would call a hike for beginners. Although you could do probably the first two...More

A medium hard trail -- easier at beginning with steeper climb near the top. Awesome views of Blue Mountain and Blue Mountain Lake.

This is a gorgeous hike and the view from castle rock is well worth the modest effort to get there. I found it listed in a guide to easy hikes in the Adirondacks. I'm not sure I agree with the "easy" rating though. There are...More
