This is a place for a leisurely afternoon alone or with family. Not "exciting", just places to stroll and rest, including large goldfish pond, greenhouse, herb garden, nature path. On weekends, great art activities for kids. Our 6 and 4 year old grandchildren love to visot.

The Bronx is always one of my favourite places to spend time in when visiting NY. I love it's parks and historic houses. I'd heard of Wave Hill and seen photos online but this was my first time visiting. Typically these places won't look their best in December but as soon as we entered the gardens we were blown away... Someone needs to privately message me to explain this place. I don't understand it! So we get there and they say we can't park in the car park unless we want to spend $8. However we can park in another car park a few minutes away and get a FREE shuttle there and back. Surely they can just have a... More

I had heard about this place for so many years that I expected rolling lawns and vast open spaces... and it's not like that. It's a beautiful home (that you can't really go inside except for scheduled events or to use the bathroom or cafe) with gardens and grounds overlooking the Hudson River and NJ Palisades. But once other people... More

The baby sister garden to NYBG. It's in a great area of the city so it's very nice and quiet, their garden is small but beautiful especially with the great view of the Hudson River. They also have a nice art gallery and the Wave Hill House museum to visit.

We were looking for a good place to view fall foliage on our recent trip to NYC. Several people suggested Wave Hill, so we went on a Saturday morning. Took the 1 train to the end of the line, and caught the free shuttle bus just outside the station. Wave Hill is a secluded estate overlooking the Hudson River above... More

We loved the beautiful gardens here and highly recommend taking the Dead Botantists walking tour. It might only occur in October for Halloween but don't miss it if you can go. The guide takes you to flora and fauna and explains the history of who discovered it and how they met their untimely ends! The shuttle to/from the 1 train... More

I lived in New York for 15 years before I discovered Wave Hill; it's now my happy place. It's a practically perfect garden and arts center in the north Bronx, perched on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River and New Jersey Palisades. There's always something happening on the weekends: family art projects, grown-up art and craft workshops, birding walks, yoga,... More

This little gem is tucked away in a residential area which keeps it off the radar from other attractions. It is well worth the effort to find it! There are numerous paths through woods and gardens with plenty of green space for kids to run around in the fresh air, too. The sweeping views of the Hudson and across to... More
