Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice stroll past the boats docked at the pier. Panoramic views of Canandaigua Lake that stretch for miles. Quaint Boathouses that have been maintained for what looks like decades or more. A few small shops too. At the end there are a few benches if you would like to sit and soak in the view for a while. Parking available on the pier or in the adjacent Kershaw Park.

The City Pier is not very long but a nice place to sit and watch the boats or eat ice cream. There is also a nearby public bathroom. I particularly enjoy the boathouses located on the pier

I live in Canandaigua and never get tired of this view. Whether you’re on the water or driving the circle (hopefully with an ice cream cone from Scoops) you need to stop and take a look. They change with the seasons and the weather, but they are always a welcoming, familiar site. A must see if you’re on the Lake.

Never knew how close a beautiful lake is to me. My new favorite local place. It is an absolute must. Lake is picturesque. If you live around Canandaguia and want to escape to a different place, this is the perfect spot.

POLICE PROBLEM - We had a great time in Canandaigua, but we were not happy with the speed traps in the town. During rush hour with busy traffic flow, the police stopped our car on route 46 for going 44 miles in a 30 mile zone. Honestly we were just keeping up with local highway traffic, but I think they saw our out of state plates. They sent us a ticket without an amount asking us to agree to pay a fine or choose to go to court there. Without knowing what the fine would be, we chose the former - dangerous. The Canandaigua Police then send us a $100,00 ticket PLUS $93.00 "Surcharge" and a 3.5% fee on credit cards since they do not accept personal checks. Paying on line adds a convenience fee to the 3.5% OUTRAGEOUS. Will return to the Finger Lakes but we Will Not Spoend our money in Canandaigua

If you are in Canandaigua, NY, visit the pier and check out the cool boat houses! The pier is part of a walking tour offered by America's walking Club, through the local YMCA right on the main road in town. Nearby Kirshaw Park also worth seeing along with many stately homes in town.

Many local attractions are very close by, IE: New York Wine & Culinary Center,
Nolan's Restaurant on Canandaigua Lake, Kershaw Park, and if you go uptown you can visit Sonnenberg Gardens, or take a local wine tour of the Finger Lakes. The old boat houses at the end of the pier are very photogenic with Squaw Island in the background. About a mile East from the pier there is the Roseland Water Park with much to do there. A Stearn wheeler boat ride is also nearby to ride on Canandaigua Lake. There is something for every one.

This tour was terrible! There was no narration just a nice ride around the Lake. Canandaigua Lake has a wonderful history and I took my friend for her 79th birthday expecting a similiar experience that we had the year before on Skaneatletes Lake Boat Ride. This was a waste of money. Don't bother.

We were in this town area for exactly 15 minutes before having a terrible experience. Like another reviewer we got pulled in by a 30mph speed trap. I'm not even sure how fast I was going but it wasn't fast I was enjoying the scenery. The GPS said the speed limit was 55 and all I know is that I was going below that. The officer even commented that the GPS is often wrong so he knew what he was doing and gave us some speech that sounded rehearsed he also immediately commented that we were out of towers.

First thing the cop said was he assumed we weren't from there. He gave me points for barley driving on an empty road while decelerating for a red light. We were literally stopped at the same light in opposite directions and then he turned around and pulled me over and said he tracked me way on top of the hill. I never got pulled over with such confusion.

How convenient and what extortion. Will never give another penny to this town. He told me he gave me a reduction (because surely if I actually doing something wrong the details of my ticket can change just like that). But the reduction still carries points so I have to be exploited in their excessively priced program to get rid of it or take the points and see my insurance go up or hire a lawyer just for coming down a hill alone and stopping at a red light and doing less than 50mph. I got a speeding ticket for less than 50mph!

. I haven't had a speeding ticket in over a decade when I was in my early 20's when I was actually doing some sort of speeding. who would expect such a thing on a Leisurely drive in a car that can barely even go fast without flooring it.

Exploitative garbage.

Beautiful in the winter. Haven't been here before. Certainly very different than when I spent summers in Canandaigua in the 1980s.
