The best time going to Sam's Point is at the end of October because you can get to see the leaves in all different colors. We went to the ice caves trail yesterday, it took us about one and a half hour to finish this...More

Cool October morning air warmed up by early afternoon and we were rewarded with magnificent views during our 3 hour walk. Did the ice caves loop, went to the lake, saw the huckleberry puckers cabins... If you going to the caves after the rain, you...More

Parking is $10 unless you have an Empire pass. We walked the loop road. It was a wide smooth path that went up to incredible lookouts, then around a lake and finally back down to the parking area. There was a fire in the area...More

We went with little children and surprisingly it was a hit! They found it to be so much fun that they didn't complain about the long walk. We had to carry our 2 year old on our shoulders some of the time. Overall it was...More

It's a great hike and a beautiful view. The trail scenery changes vastly depending on what part you're at (so its not all the same bushes and trees you're looking at). You start out through woods, then up the side of the mountain, then across...More

Sam's Point is great for families. The trails are very well maintained and fairly easy to hike. The best part for the kids is they actually get to hike through a cave. Hikers looking for more challenging hikes can use as starting point to other...More

Great hike in any season. Unfortunately some parts of the park were closed due to the recent fire. However, the hike to Sam's point was very pleasant and the view from the top was just amazing ! Highly recommended for anyone traveling to this area.

Ive hiked a ton of trails in New York. This is without contest my favorite. Varied terrain, numerous 360 viewpoints, rock scrambles, a waterfall, a sky lake, AND the pup loved it just as much!

For us (two adults, 30+, activity level at 2+ miles of walking daily) it was maybe 30-40 minutes to the Ice Caves after first going by Sam's Point (which you'll probably want to do first anyway.) The Ice Cave route itself... More
