We happened by the site by accident and I am so pleased that we did. The site is very well preserved with informative signage and wonderful photo opportunities. We explored thoroughly and really enjoyed ourselves. A real hidden gem!

Best to read about the place before you visit. You can spend an hour walking around the ruins and, if the weather is fine, another hour just relaxing on the lawns taking in the beautiful countryside and listening to the birds. Ashbourne is about 9miles...More

Pretty cool abbey down a county lane. As everyone said so far... 2-3 car parking at most. The abbey is right next to a farm-like house and looks like part of the complex is part of the house. Free! Easy place to relax, sit down...More

Part privately owned, run by the marvellous English Heritage, this is a ruined gem; or a gem of a ruin. There's not an awful lot of information about the site, but there's not a lot of the site left. But what is left is magnificent.

Situated in a remote location north west of uttoxeter in a countryside setting. The road runs through the ruin and even though there is not a designated parking area, there is room for approx 3 vehicles by the gate. There are a few information boards...More

The fact that so many Abbey's were ruined in the 16th Century is a crying shame, but then, so many ruins have been preserved, and the ruins at Croxden have enough about them to imagine what life would have been like for the monks who...More

Beautiful ruins in lovely countryside. Ideal to wile away an hour or 2. Perfect for photography. Parking is very limited (2-3 cars) on the side of the road & there are no amenities or refreshments but it's only a short drive away from uttoxeter, which...More
