    Polar Bears are the stars
Polar bears are worth the entrance fee alone. Plenty of other animals to see also. The Red Squirrels are also worth a visit. One negative thing about the park is the Cafe. I would advise bringing your own food and drink. The coffee was awful.

A joy to visit this wonderful wildlife park
We'd visited here a while ago but when we heard that there were polar bears we thought we would visit again. It's a great place for any age group, easy to get around - a map is given to you on arrival- and the keepers, staff and volunteers are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Information is provided on the various animals on boards and talks given at various times during the day - times stated on a board near to the entrance kiosk. We did see the polar bears at a distance and I guess they are still settling into their new home. The talk on the Tapirs was extremely interesting and the red squirrel walk through was brilliant as they were scampering around as we went through. Allow 2 to 3 hours at least and enjoy this wonderful attraction.

    Well worth a visit!!!
Children will love this place and all the animals that they can touch and feed. It was worth it just to see the polar bears, such a wonderful sight and plenty of space for them. My grandkids loved it all, especially the pizza they had for lunch in their own little box. They loved the play areas especially the indoor one but could have been bigger when there are quite a few kids playing in there.

    Ethical, interesting and well run.
Way exceeded expectations- the animals were so happy- polar bears playing in the pool have clearly settled in well. Keepers of all species were knowledgable, and really knew the individual animals. Information about the conservation/breeding programmes of endangered species fascinating. Signage and information easy to read and interesting/well spaced out. Food and drink of quality. Facilities clean. Highly recommended!

    Polar Bears in the UK
£18.95 per adult £16.95 children up to 16 years old. Great couple of hours out in the fresh air. The main highlight was they have 3 Polar Bears, absolutely amazing to watch them so content in their environment, worth the money just to see them. Also you can walk with the Penguins and Lemurs, feed the Wallabies, there's a giant Tortoise, Sheep, Deer and not to forget the cheeky Meerkats. A couple of places to get a drink. Check out their website for all the details. If you waited for feeding times then you could spend a good half day there. Word of warning if it's been raining wear some sensible shoes, trainers aren't the best as parts can be muddy.

Lovely animal park, highlight: feeding wallabies! ❤️
We had such a great time! Spent about 3-4 hours here. The walkthroughs are great. You can walk through red squirrels, lemurs, goats, penguins and wallabies. You can feed the wallabies too! This was so fun (purchase bags of food from the ticket booth on your way in). They have 3 polar bears that are a recent addition and it was so fun to watch the two boys playing in the water! Staff are all really friendly. We went along to the polar bear talk and the staff member was very informative.

    Shocking Cafe Service/Prices
Our first visit this year to the Peak Wildlife Park. We hadn’t seen the polar bears before, so that was wonderful and their keepers seem very knowledgable. We still didn’t see the red squirrels, despite waiting over half an hour but someone did assure us that they’re definitely there. The only problem I find with this attraction is the food and drink prices and the ridiculous length of time waiting for them at the Brookside Cafe. We queued for about half an hour to be served. The girl serving food behind the counter had waist length hair that was completely loose. She took our order (3 cheese and ham toasties, an americano, a mocha and a small carton of strawberry milkshake ~ over £25!) Two of the toasties arrived fairly promptly but were not fully heated. Five minutes later, we received the third toastie, which was warmer. We then had to wait another 10 minutes to get the 2 hot drinks, by which time all 3 toasties were cold. Next time it’ll be a picnic.

    Amazing experience.
Living so close to Chester Zoo we don’t often venture to other zoos other than to see animals they don’t have. Having already seen the polar bears at Yorkshire a few years ago we decided to take a small road trip here. We knew it was relatively small but were literally Blown away by the walk through areas and in particular feeding the wallabies. What an amazing experience. Walking through the lemurs and penguins and goats also made our trip. The polar bears didn’t disappoint either. Two were sensible and cuddled up in their shelter while one was playing in the water with toys. Pizza and hot chocolate helped warm us up on a very cold Sunday and not bad price. Pizza was lovely. The shop has a great selection of souvenirs and I am now the proud owner of a cuddly wallaby and cuddly polar bear and the obligatory fridge magnet. Will return during the summer to see the park in full bloom and when the weather is hopefully warmer.

    Amazing Afternoon Out
Absolutely brilliant early New Year experience. The car parks were absolutely full capacity so we expected an overcrowded and therefore difficult visit. No so. From the first friendly welcome at the car park entrance to the clear views of all exhibits it was an almost totally magical experience for the four adults and two under sixes in our party. The only slight exceptions were the big queues for ice cream and soft play. The highlight was star performer Mama Polar Bear although the other animals on show were fascinating to observe too.

I read the reviews thoroughly before visiting and they seemed pretty good. However for the price and other wildlife parks we have visited I was so disappointed.Everything was empty it probably took us a good 10 minutes of walking around before we saw anything.Every enclosure empty, my 2 year old was literally asking where the animals were?

Felt more like a small farm being able to get close up to goats and rabbits. The hand washing facilities and sanitisers were spot on but the cleanliness of the Animals environment seemed unkept particularly the penguins the smell was vile. They have windows to look through to watch the penguins swim underwater however, the windows are green with algae so unable to see anything. We didn’t see many staff members at all around the animals. The cafe and shop are probably the best bits of it all.Food is overpriced but we knew that before we arrived.I wouldn’t take a child under the age of 5 as I think they will be bored. We could have easily been in and out within an hour for over £40 for 3 people it just doesn’t seem worth it.In total with food we spent over £70.

This is a lovely wildlife park. A good variety of birds and small mammals like meerkats, lemurs, wallabies etc.

The stand out bits for us are the walk through enclosures where you can get up close to the animals and the excellent penguin viewing areas where you can see above and below the water. Our 5 year old stood for 20m or more watching the penguins and we had to prise her away!

Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, letting us go inside the keepers area of the lemur enclosure this time as all the lemurs were in there keeping warm!

The location on the Staffordshire Moorlands, combined with the wilderness areas that they have left mean that you also see a lot of wild native birds, which is a little added bonus.

Finished off with big bouncy castle (no extra charge), outdoor play area and (in normal times) indoor play area too and you can happily spend 3-4 hours here.

For a day trip it is perhaps a little expensive for a family, but we live quite locally and so the annual pass is excellent value for money - it's paid for itself by the 3rd visit, which we've just had since September.

In the winter, you should definitely wrap up warm with lots of layers as it is quite exposed and the wind can blow!

Visited today now they have reopened. There is currently a timed entry to the park - book your ticket and time slot separately. Your time is checked against your name and then your tickets are scanned. Food at the cafe is ordered via a website and you can select a collection time. There is a one way route round the park but you can go around as many times as you want. Feeding times have been cancelled but you can still wander in amongst the penguins, wallabies, lemurs, goats, rabbits and chickens. The animals seem very happy and pleased/puzzled to have visitors back again. Staff are really friendly and happy to talk. All visitors seemed to be sticking to social distancing and letting each other pass when necessary. Lots of hand sanitiser available before and after every enclosure and other strategic points along the path. We will be back.

Decided to go here instead of a local zoo. We enjoyed our day but it was pretty average. It was cold and windy but we saw all the main animals which was nice. They’re well looked after and the keepers all know what they’re talking about. It was too cold to go to the outdoor play area but we had our picnic in 2 halves, near the penguins and in the barn. Plenty of seating all around the park!
It’s smaller than other places and more expensive which has put me off going again. It’s about an hour away from home and the zoo is an hour away too and they have offers on making it cheaper.

We visit the park regularly and have had annual passes for 3 years now. The last 5 or more times of visiting we have been unable to have lunch in the family room it's always full with schools. It is not ideal trying to feed toddlers in the soft play area there are too many distractions and they want to play. We won't be visiting as much anymore as it is a long travel for us and essential that we all have lunch whilst there before an hour long trip home.

I visited the wildlife park with my partner for a few hours earlier this week. Although the park is small there are a number of nice walk through enclosures which allow you to get up close to the animals. We queued to enter the park and there were one way signs to follow, however a number of people did not obey the social distancing rules however this is not the park's fault. I think the park is more aimed at young children however we still enjoyed our visit and would say it was worth the entrance fee paid for 2 hours entertainment.

Visited early Jan with mini me. Easy place to find, nice friendly staff.

We walked round a few times and saw more animals each time and you can get nice and close to most of them. Glad we did so, as the first stroll round we didn’t see many animals at all, guessing it was weather related.

There’s a nice family room where you can sit and eat your own pack lunch or there’s a cafe that do a good selection of pizza at a reasonable price.

There’s a small outdoor play area and sand pit for the smaller visitors. Also a small indoor play area but mini me found it too loud so we didn’t stop here long.

Worth a visit, not sure if I’d return again though.

Really great experience with friendly animals and good prices. Would recommend but went on a Sunday and felt very crowded even though booked a slot due to COVID. Great for children and animal lovers alike. The penguins and meerkats were worth seeing but I did feel sad that the wallabies were a bit overcrowded by children trying to pat them and pull their tails it and I witnessed children chasing a distressed rabbit but the keepers did intervene at this. All the other animals and goats etc seemed happy and it was nice to walk amongst them.

If we’re stopping in Ilam we always visit here. It’s a good way to spend 3 to 4 hours (including lunch).

Online booking is straight forward and simple, the park is great for young families.
It’s a wildlife park, not a zoo so don’t expect to see the bigger animals but being able to walk around the animal cages with the animals is a good experience.

We booked an early in the day visit and as such the bouncy castle was empty which meant I could have a quick play also 😆

We had a pizza and drinks whilst there and the ordering and collection of food was simple and straight forward.

Well worth a visit.

Visit was 20/07/22 , we were staying in Matlock so decided to visit (approx 45 min drive from Matlock)

We visited on the hottest day of the year thus far lol , that being said , the place is amazing, staff were friendly and helpful. good variety of animals , some you can walk amongst.
walk around park is well sign posted (maps available) , very well thought out "airlocks" to stop animals escaping. regular hand washing and disinfecting stations.

unfortunately because days was so hot (38C) animals just wanted to lie in the shade (dont blame them) , so wasnt as active as we would have liked.

All animals seemed well cared for and almost all had access to go indoors , or at the very least shade.
Lots of staff walking around , and you could determine who were keeper staff and who was "shop" or helper staff due to different tea shirt colours
Penguin enclosure is very well done , and seems to be the centre piece of the park.

foot paths well defined , and accessible via wheelchair

Cafe was nice , and reasonably priced , as was gift shop which is impressive in size and variety. Would defo go again , good for adults and children alike
