Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Querétaro Regional Museum, located in the former San Francisco Monastery, offers a fascinating experience. The exhibitions are well organized and cover the history and culture of the region, with a focus on the Otomi and Chichimeca ethnic groups. The museum features high-quality artifacts, including sculptures, ceramics, weapons and paintings. Permanent and temporary galleries always guarantee something new to see. The combination of historical setting and well-kept exhibitions makes the museum a must for anyone interested in the history of Querétaro.

This is one of the most gorgeus convents in this world heritage city. The Franciscan Convent.

It has been abandoned but through consistent rehabilitation, today is a very beatiful and modern museum.

It tell us about history of Queretaro since prehispanic times up to the revolution.

The "patios" and gardens are very beautiful.

You can also see how use to be the life of the monks in this convent.

This excellent museum, immediately to the south of the Templo de San Francisco, does not receive the attention it deserves from foreign travelers. The ground floor has exhibits of pre Hispanic Mexico, while the second floor has great exhibits of Queretaro's critical role in the Mexican independence movement. Everything in the museum is in Spanish. Too bad that signage is not also in English.

museum itself is quite good and informative, but if you compare this one with all other museums in the area, you will find out this one is just about average. Ticket price is 85 pesos, which I believe is the highest among all the museums in the city. Sunday is free, but who is gonna wait till Sunday?

I really enjoyed this museum, even though it is "just" a regional museum. The building in which it is located is beautiful, and the collection of art and artifacts within, fascinating. Not only would I return to this museum, I already have! I visited it both times I visited Queretaro.

Queretaro is a very important city and this museum traces the history of Queretaro from pre-colonial era to the 19th century. Beginning with the indigenous people, going through the colonial period, then the Independence movement. Well- laid out and spacious, with lovely quiet patios. All exhibits are in Spanish.

The collection seems thin, uneven, and inaccessible to English-speakers. If you are in town for several days, walk through for the architecture. Compare the simplicity of this Franciscan monastery Santa Cruz (also Franciscan) and to the wealth of Santa Clara or the high art of the Regional Art Museum (a former Augustinian convent). Non-Mexicans pay a small entrance fee.

Downtown, in the Centro Histórico on Corregidora...large old Colonial building with central patio that has been turned into a museum featuring items from Querétaro and close by. Extremely well organized from pre-Hispanic times through Mexico's War for Independence, the Revolution, and afterwards. Beautiful pieces of pottery, folk art, paintings, and relics from different periods, and good signage guiding you from one room to another. It took us about an hour to go through the entire museum this morning, and I recommend it to anyone who likes/loves Mexican history. No fee charged for educators with a credential.

We especially liked learning more about the history of colonial Mexico and where it fit into the rest of Mexico's history, which is why we came to this part of Mexico.

Queretaro is a historical city, and if you spend an hour or two here, you will walk away with a much better understanding. From the table in which the U.S./MX treaty was signed to the history of Maximilliano's last days in Queretaro, the museum does an excellent job of providing the visitor a complete history.
