At the great cave of the Northeast, an elevator takes you 156’below ground. The doors open into a prehistoric underground cavern 6,000,000 years in the making! Trained tour guides help negotiate the cave and teach about its magnificent natural features. Back on the surface, mine for gemstones at Howe Caverns Mining Co. Beginning summer 2011, enjoy the first phase of Howe High Adventures—featuring ropes courses, climbing walls, zip lines and more!

The How Caverns were open to the public since 1842 and still are an interesting place to visit. It is a well-organized visit from the moment you buy your ticket, then you'll hear the story of how they found the caverns. The guided tour was very good, our guide pointed out some interesting spots on the trail. We enjoyed the... More

We took our out-of-town guests here on Black Friday and I was stunned by the steep entrance fees. For a 90-minute (slow-paced) tour, we paid $25/adult, $20/teenager and $10/ younger kid. You have to see the sites w/ a guide and cannot wander about on your own. Although our guide was well-prepared and a good speaker, the tour was a... More

It is not just the caverns. That is really cool (literally), but also they have a ropes course, gem mining and best of all the H2GO ball. Our two young nieces were afraid at first, but once in the ball...they just loved it. Go to their website to check it out. I am an adventurous Grandma and if I had... More

The 90-minute tour went by quickly as we admired the breath-taking caverns. Howe is impressive in its length and is easily navigable. The boat tour is a nice touch, but the highlight is navigating the close walls of the Winding Way. The photographer of the group was left wanting much more time than we had. And ultimately I caved and... More

Went back here for the first time in 45 years. This was just a fun tour, we had a great guide and he really filled us in on the history of the place and the geologic formations

I have been wanting to go to Howe Caverns for years and was not disappointed. It is amazing to see the formations and it was bright in the cave so I didn't feel unsafe. It is cool definitely bring a jacket. It didn't feel rushed. Only disappointing thing was Gift shop was closed before we got back from 2P tour.... More

Our tour guide was interesting and knew his stuff well. The cave is chilly (dress for this during the summer - you'll be cold if you don't have a jacket). There are a couple areas that may be difficult if you have trouble walking or if you are claustrophobic. But, they are ready for that and can let you take... More

Finally visited Howe Caverns after a few years living in the area...what took us so long?!? We were given a fantastic tour by our guide, Austin. The cavern itself is pretty cool (literally - 52 degrees year-round). Will definitely go back for the Lantern Tour!

We visited in October, not crowded but I can imagine this might be in the summer. The tour was informative and entertaining. Enjoyed learning about how it was discovered and the history. My teenagers want to return for the more in depth exploring they offer. Some folks complain about the rules, I don't think they were all that bad.

Went there with my nephew. never expected to find a place like this in NY-underground! Come prepared with a jacket-it is cold down in the cave. Short boat ride was fun as well. Very cool place in Upstate NY. Worth the trip!
