We visited Buttermilk Falls recently. It was lovely. Families were out walking around the falls and people were having picnics. It's just on the outskirts of the city, so not far at all.

truly impressive feat of nature...a bit crowded on a Sunday, so if you don't like crowds go during the week? really really nice sights, walk a bit strenuous so be careful if you have limitations

The park is beautiful, clean and peaceful. I really enjoyed it. I would visit again and have recommended it to my niece.

Signage was not good and we almost missed this beautiful park. Once we found it (by the street name) we were treated to a lovely view of the waterfalls as we enjoyed our picnic lunch. Appeared to be a nice hiking trail along side the...More

We went for a hike along the gorge trail and continued onto the lake trail. This time, it was only the adults hiking and while I saw families there with kids, I personally would not feel comfortable taking my kids on this hike for several...More

Another stop along our way, driving around Ithaca and Cayuga Lake, was at the Buttermilk Falls. A quaint little spot to relax and enjoy one of Mother Nature's creations. The history of this area is quite interesting. Some manmade additions have been added, such as...More

First time to Buttermilk Falls. We took the gorge trail, didn’t realize how tough the climb would be, lots of steps. We are in our 50’s and not super fit, but we did make it. We had a beautiful day.

The Hike from the falls to the top is fantastic! Many natural encounters one would never see unless you take the hike

Beautiful cascading falls, very easy to get to off the main road. Definitely worth a stop if you are driving through here.

Ithaca Falls is spectacular, especially after some rain. But there is not really a trail for hiking. It's a five-minute walk after you park the car to the base of the waterfall, with no trail to hike. It could be a 15-minute... More

Try the usual travel websites for hotels. There is also Grayhaven Motel which is halfway between Treman Park and Buttermilk Falls. It's a small family run operation. There are also quite a few Airbnb's here. When all the... More

The Rim Trail is about .8 miles, one way. It intersects with other trails. There are gates to close off the icy parts to other trails.
