We had an extra time before heading to hotel for check in so we went to this place. We thought we would see a lot of birds but end up we only saw about 10 kind of birds. We walked around the trail but not much to see.

Cornell is a mecca for birders in person and online. The front desk can provide specific birding info or will seek help from available professors, if possible. It is a very peaceful place to visit and explore inside and the surrounding "Sapsucker Woods". There is also a "Wildbird" shop inside with wonderful, helpful staff if you are interested in bird... Friendly staff, very knowledgeable, lots of winter bits, too cold for winter walk. Great gift shop. A nice place.

Even in the dead of winter, Sapsucker Woods is alive with wildlife viewing opportunities. Had just been in FL and had a photo of a duck with which I was unfamiliar. I was directed to the library upstairs and was able to locate the duck within minutes from their numerous resource material. The walking trails are an easy hike and... More

The Lab of O is a great place to visit, even when the gift shop isn't open. Sapsucker Woods has fine trails worth a hike, whether or not the birds you want to see are visible. There's a fine Andy Goldsworthy rock sculpture in the woods east of the lab. Real interesting events are held there often.

We took a group outing there. Inside, there are interactive displays, bird call recording, movies, a library, and a gift shop. Outside are well kept trials through various types of setting. The pond clearly seemed to be everyone favorite, especialy the birds.

Looking for something interesting to do - this is a great place to visit. Nice inside viewing area of the pond - geese and ducks in the winter. They do have outside trails too. The interactive bird map is fascinating. The library was not open when I was there. Nice gift shop too. I will visit again in spring to... More

I have the good fortune to live near Ithaca, NY so I am able to visit the Lab and Sapsucker Woods often. The trails are full of beautiful Warblers and many other migrants in April and May. The visitors center have wonderful exhibits, art and interactive materials as well. The Trails are of varying lengths and are not at all... More

I'm not sure what the public gets to see but we had a complete tour of the lab. It was fascinating to see all of the research done by the lab and we especially enjoyed seeing a small portion of the birds in the taxidermy and the audio collection.
