Stopped in during a visit to Ithaca (I live 35 miles away). Asked about the "Ricanstruction" graphic novel to benefit the Puerto Rico hurricane recovery effort; it had been out for a while. Shop owner was able to look it up on-line, order a copy for me, and hold it until my next trip down to Ithaca.

Let me start by saying that my husband and I are quiet, respectful adults raised with good manners and had wonderful, friendly interactions with every shopkeeper we interacted with during our weekend stay in Ithaca. However, the man running the comic store when we went in (I think he's the owner) was an absolute nightmare. He became incredibly passive-aggressive and confrontational when we went to leave without buying anything (as it happens, you don't always see something you want to buy in a store). Shocked, we stood there trying to diffuse the situation, which led to a very uncomfortable, lengthy conversation involving him bad-mouthing other Central NY comic book stores. In retrospect, we should have ignored him and left, but we were so caught off guard by his behavior, we were stunned. During the "conversation", I did actually see something that piqued my interest, but didn't buy it out of principal. Be prepared to deal with this guy if they don't have what you want, or better yet, just don't go.

Just recently brought in my boyfriend's comic book collection. The collection, as a whole, could have retailed for $1000 easy. One comic book alone was worth $300, and that is not including getting it rated. The owner, Tim, took forever going over the collection, and we had to call him to ask what was taking so long...turns out he was done looking them over, and wanted us to come in and talk $$$. We went in with expectations of approx. $500 for selling, with a chance for the guy to make a big profit. There were other profitable books that could sell to make up his purchasing price. He tried to tell me and my boyfriend that the $300 comic book, which was in good condition, was in extremely POOR condition and someone wanted to buy it for $20. He is completely full of you know what. He said he wanted to buy that comic book and another that he could sell for $50 for a grand total of...$45. He said he would take the whole collection for $100. Just a tip, Tim, if you are going to try to pull the wool over someone's eyes to make a banging profit, be a bit more reasonable with your offers! This man was rude, brisk, and clearly just wanted to take advantage of us instead of working out a good deal. We walked out with our collection and plan to not ever go back to that shop.
