We started from the Black Mountain trailhead near Route 6. We did an out and back, not the loop, and we went counter-clockwise. Trail is very well marked and easy to follow. Not too difficult but if you are a new hiker and past your...More

Be prepared. Lots of rocks on the trail and steep in parts. Bring water and snacks. Start out early in the day and pace yourself. A cell phone, flashlight and small first aid kit are essential.

Been wanting to check out this hike for a while and am glad we did. We went up the shorter way and down the longer part of the loop. The reason I don't give a "5" rating is that the shorter trail is heavily used,...More

Took the trail to Black Mountain top back and forth, which took me around 2 hours (fairly high pace). Moderate difficulty I'd say, nice colors along the path as foliage transitioning to fall tints. Wear adequate footwear as some rocky passages, especially after heavy rainfalls,...More

I did the full loop. From the Pike road trailhead I took the counter clockwise route. One hour and twenty minutes to the top, one hour and a few odd minutes eating lunch at the top, and about two hours and fifteen minutes down. The...More
