Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The two hour guided walk was tranquil and interesting. The monkeys running around with their babies hitched to their bellies very cute, but they leap and jump yo grab bananas from you!

I was surprised that the fantastical and unusual (if not downright weird ) statues depicting local spiritual beliefs by Austrian Suzanne Wenger surrounding the grove resulted in it being inscribed on the UNESCO heritage. To my mind Nigeria has more impressive sights like the Benin Bronzes and Badagry. I wouldn’t come all the way from overseas to see this, but if in the area sure…

i visited the groove and saw with my own eyes stories read from books and journals and i met those to give brushes to the history been shed for years.
I was privileged to witness the cleansing process before worshippers were allowed into the groove, i took pictures too to this effect as well.
Nigeria is got an heritage to cling to if properly harnessed.

This was one of the first sites I visited in Nigeria and it was worth it. Takes you on a journey to the ancient Yoruba civilisation. Beautiful art works, amazing architecture, fantastic landscape and nature. I totally enjoyed myself. I hope this site’s maintenance remains top-notch!

The Osun Oshogbo groove and the people of the ancient town are indivisible.
The adoration for Osun, the deity of fertility is undeniable. The numerous monkeys along the road to the groove and in the groove are a spectacle to behold as they are used to the people. It is a common sight to see drivers parking their cars to give bananas and other food to these animals who are friendly.
I advice anyone that is going to Oshogbo or to explore the groove or the town to go with a guide because most of the places are unmarked. It has no signage or directions.
It will do the tourist or visitor so much good to employ the service of a guide because the guide will take the visitor beyond his or bargain.

The entry fee to this place is 200naira and it was worth every Kobo. The monkeys welcome you as you come in and it will be nice if you could at least buy them some bananas. A banana seller is just right around the corner.

The guide was very knowledgeable and the fee paid included the guide. So there is no need to pay more.

The Osun festival happens around the 2nd or 3rd week of August and we were told that was the best time to visit.

The artworks were breathtaking and I asked the Osun goddess for triplets and loads of wealth. I hope she heard me. Lol.

The sacred grove was such a sight to see! The artwork was just incredible and the history surrounding it is very interesting. Luckily my fiancee and I were visiting a friend who lives in Ile Ife, and had him as our escort and guide, which made things much easier. To be honest doing anything sans a friend who is a local or native is basically impossible, unless you know the culture and are a seasoned traveler. However the people of Osogbo were very nice and welcoming, if not a bit wary or curious as to our presence as foreigners. My fiancee and I wanted to learn as in depth as we could about the Ifa religion and thanks to our friends and his acquaintances we were able to.

I lived in Nigeria for over 2 years (In Yola, Adamawa) and my time in Ife/Osogbo and the surrounding areas was the most enjoyable time I had in those two years. I love the Yoruba people, they are kind and warm people and probobly the most sincere you will find in Nigeria.

This is a place many people will never see and it really is a damn shame, because this part of Nigeria is steeped in history, tradition, and beauty. Love love love the Osun Grove!

Nice place to visit, admission fee includes a guide, which is very welcome and you will learn a lot about this forest. Somehow they want to rip you off with the photography charge/fee, which is incredibly expensive, so try to make a some kind of a deal.

Recommended.

Osun groove is a sacred groove that has been in existence for so long a time. At the grove, you have the historical consultant who are on ground to take you round and tell you more about the sacred grove.

Is a good place to visit for one who believe more in culture and traditions.

the whole Osogbo experience is very special particularly if you have affinity with local culture. First, the sacred Grove is magical for two reasons. 1. that it is still a functioning Shrine for the ancient Yoruba religion - for Osun the Water Goddess - is rare in a country when fundamental Christianity and Islam has destroyed much of the original Orisha and other local Nigerian religious sites. 2 that the outstanding and mystical art of Suzanne Wenger so clearly fraternises with the local environment that they both become as one. Second, when you are in osogbo make sure you visit Suzanne's amazing house, Nike's gallery and art complex where students learn traditional cultural crafts such as Adire (traditional Yoruba batik).

One of the fewest UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) in Nigeria, Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove is a must view place for every traveller. A place that has its own traditional background which is respected even now by every sorts of people in the town. Reasonable entry fee with guide, additional charges for Photography...
