During our Autumn visit to Lake Placid we were directed to hike Mount Jo and we are thrilled we did. The hike is steep in parts but not too difficult. It took us about about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach the summit. But...More

If you want to go to Mount Jo be sure not to go on a fall weekend. We thought we would arrive early enough to beat the crowds Saturday morning but were sorely wrong. Hoards were pouring into the area like ants on a hill....More

Hiked this and it was a nice hike though rather steep in spots with lots of rocks and fallen leaves and with the recent rain that morning, very sleek. Make sure to wear the right shoes. The view at the top down onto Lake Placid...More

Great hike. Take the short path even if it's steep and rocky the views are beautiful. While it is a more populated trail in the area, the fall foliage is stunning.

We did this hike in July with kids age 6 and 8 - was fun and the views from the top were great - would recommend.

Beautiful mountain in the Adirondacks. There are 2 trails, the short trail which is steeper and rockier and the long trail that's a little easier. Make a loop, you'll be glad you did. View from the top is wonderful. Parking can be nearly impossible, so...More

The hike is about 2 miles out and back. Rated as moderate, and I would say that is correct. We took the shorter harder route on the way up. Lots of rock scrambles, and tree roots to climb over. Got to the top and OMG...More

Ok, I know people refer to this as an easy hike, but it's not a cake walk. There are some tough rocks to get over the higher you go. My small children managed to do it, so its not crazy hard but if you've never...More

We climbed Mt.Jo several years ago with our elementary school aged daughter. It's a nice way to experience the high peaks without getting in over your head. The hike is something like a mile each way and it starts at the Adirondack Loj which is...More

Located at Adirondak Loj with all you could expect for a great outdoor experience. Good climb to summit of Mt Jo affording nice views of area.

This was a gorgeous, "leave no trace" hike. The trails are quite root-y and rocky (i.e. few smooth, dirt patches), making for a workout of a climb through woods. View from the summit was lovely.

I would say there's a few different routes if you want to spend all day there or even a few hours. We did the shortest trek and I'd say it about 4 miles and it took us all day because of the incline. If you're an... More
