Overview
More
The authentic, original Source of the Nile Site, where the British Explorer Speke first discovered the River Nile (of course the Africans knew there was a river, but anyway..). Stand where he stood, take a picture with the monument, go for boatrides across the river nile and into Lake Victoria, see monkeys, monitor lizards, pythons (and maybe even an authentic African Witchdoctor). The site also allows for camping, nature walks, parties and occasions with a truly spectacular nature setting. Ideal for Birdwatching and anyone looking for 1 day tour in the Ugandan Countryside.

Years ago we didn't pay in dollars to visit here but as we have an old local car vehicle, we were not overcharged. It is commercialised now, but we went at the end of the day and saw no other tourists. It is a "must...More

To be honest, there isn't much to see here if you aren't a historian or explorer at heart. It was well worth it for me. The only negative aspect is that if you aren't Ugandan, they charge 30k UGX compared to the 5k UGX for...More

Went there by kayak. Were supposed to kayak to the source of the Nile and around the area. Once 1/2 there, our guide kept offering drinks and drinks rather than getting somewhere, or telling us about the area. We finally had to be firm with...More

Again, this is another been-there-done-that kind of place in Uganda. Nothing much to do there. It's one of those things that the kids should to see to give them context of world geography? History? Nature? whatever it is - one of those! :-)

I just kept imagining the times of the ancient pharoahs and how this river was the source of their livelihood. The guide was accommodating and the tour was designed to ensure an understanding of the past as well as the current was achieved.

In a way not much to see that is really any different than anywhere else on the Nile or Lake Victoria. But interesting and can be fun to climb out to the sign and have you picture take with "source of the Nile" right behind...More
