This was so much fun. I thought I'd be bored here, just went along for the ride, and found it amazing. We Watched one ship going east and another going west. It is a slow process. The new visitor center is also very nice.

Remember those outings where you were wide eyed at the workings of the world? You kind of get that feeling here. I was lucky enough to see a big cargo ship pass through the locks on a beautiful October day. There's a kind of excitement...More

The only thing I would change would be to have a visitor center open more of the year. It is Memorial Day - Labor Day only. You can still watch ships from the northern parking area, but it's not quite as fun. Still cool though....More

We stopped on Sunday morning, after Labor Day. The visitor's center is closed after Labor Day, but we met a man that seemed to have a lot of knowledge about the locks, but I would have liked to visit the center. We were in a...More

We arrived early in the morning and it was too bad there were no boats going through the lock or even nearby. Next time will be sure to check the schedules prior to visiting. Instead we toured the park and it was beautiful.

Watching a 24000 ton ship rise 10 stories above you in minutes is mind blowing. Watching the engineering genius of locks is mind blowing!

My wife found the schedule of ships online. You can also call (315) 769-2422 for a recorded schedule.

I would call the information phone number. on the website. It will give the schedule of ships coming through. Even if the visitor center is closed, you can still see the ships from the road and the parking lot.
