Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Make you know what you are looking at. We had a guide that could point out the cause of whirlpool and explained why changes direction. If you have time worth seeing but not missing a whole lot if you skip it.

We have visited Niagara Falls and Whirlpool State Park several times over the years and it seems to change slightly by season. The amount of water flowing over the falls made this trip different from the others. Access to Whirlpool State Park was easy...and parking was available and free. The views of the river are incredible. We wanted to take the gondola ride from the park to the Canadian side...and back but it was closed. Great place to spend an hour just outside the city.

This was something we weren’t planning on visiting... actually, we didn’t even know it existed! Our tour guide, Party Marty of Over the Falls Tours, took us there and told us some amazing facts about it. Don’t miss this marvel of nature.

Outstanding views of the whirlpool and class 6 rapids. The park allows for enjoyment in the green spaces and on the trails. Seems like a lot of buses with tourists come through, and the visitor center is closed for renovation. The parking lot is pretty large and allows for quite a few vehicles. No entry fee is charged.

Told about this hidden gem by Yvonne from Nelson’s down the road, thank you.
The scenic road was closed for construction and the blizzard powdered the area, nice.
Great views of the gorge and the bridge.
There was fresh snow so it was picturesque.
Give a try.

This was my first visit to the park. There are quite a few stairs to get down to the gorge. The views are picturesque and you can really appreciate the beautiful scenery. I would plan for at least a 1 1/2-2 hr. visit and hike on a cooler day. I highly recommend Whirlpool State Park and plan on visiting again.

It's free to park and go inside so how can you beat that. We hiked down those hundreds of stone steps to the river bank and it was beautiful. The area is very selfie friendly and it's a pleasure to see the changing colors of the leaves. The hike back up those hundreds of stone steps was not difficult at all.

We took in the park as part of our Over the Falls tour. The views of the rapids and the whirlpool are outstanding, but they don't measure up to what you see and experience at Cave of the Winds or on the Maid of the Mist, both of which are 5 star in my opinion. That being said, this park is well worth some of your sightseeing time.

Great stop on the way back from Ft Niagara. It’s right off the road. Walk behind the building and wow! The views are incredible! You can see the cable car, speed boats and whirl pools!

Whirlpool Sate Park has nice walking trails which give diverse and spectacular views of the river. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting the same when visiting Niagara Falls.

O was wanting to know if there are any cabin's available for the days I ordered
Written 19 August 2019
I'm not sure. I didn't see any cabins but I'd say to contact the part directly. They have a website and it'll probably have a bunch of information

Can you get to this from the Canadian side? Or do you have to be on the NY side? It looks like it’s on the way to the Butterfly Conservatory.
Written 22 March 2019
If you have a passport you can go from Canada to the park on the US side.

Will be visiting in late June, and am wondering which State park I should visit for hiking and experience. I have read good reviews of three parks, but have some time restraints. How would you rank Devil's Hole State Park, Whirlpool State Park, and Niagara Gorge Trail for views, experience, and hiking?
Written 26 May 2017
They are all connected as a trail. If you start at Whirlpool State Park, you can go either way...toward the falls or Devil's Hole. If you want to walk down Devil's Hole leave a minimum of three hours for experienced hikers and a lot more for novice. Also look at the new Niagara Gorge Discovery area (1 to 1.5 miles from the Whirlpool State Park) toward the falls. You can take an elevator down to the river below the falls (where the Maid of the Mist puts into the river each year) and go on rough trails. Awesome hiking and spectacular views!!!

The gorge hike is not wheelchair accessable, but there are plenty of paths and park area at the top of the gorge with beautiful scenery that are very much so accseesable along with public restrooms that are accessable. The bathrooms at devils hole on the other hand further down the gorge if i recall are not accessable
