Santa Maria was a disappointment to us as it was very run down and not the least bit touristy. There was some hassle which we easily overcame and on two occasions demands for cash and items of jewellery.

Popped into Santa Maria on the hotel shuttle, only took 5 minutes. Beach front is lovely and a visit to the pier is a must. Most of the shops sold the same souvenirs, best to go a street back for better prices, haggling is a...More

Nice place to visit for a few hours, it was very busy with road works taking place when we were there. Beware of the shopkeepers who try to insist that you look in their shop, they really were a pain. The beach and the small...More

You just have to visit it is excellent, locals working with the catch of the day, our crafting souvenirs for the tourists, it is just so beautiful and relaxing amid the hub of the locals.
