Each December 7th, The VFW, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Northport VA Hospital participate in ceremonial wreath drop in the L.I.Sound. Cross Sound Ferry honors us by stopping the ferry for a 5 minute wreath placement on the water.

Traveling to New England via the Cross Sound Ferry is a nice option. The scenic ride to the ferry along the north fork of Long Island is very picturesque. However, most of the ride east of Riverhead is a one lane road, and you pray that you do not have a farmer riding his tractor or someone driving well below... More

Self-park is very accessible with on-site snack bar. The trip is only a/b 40-45 minutes with buses waiting for Mohegan or Foxwoods. We played bingo on thee boat which made the trip even more fun. The coffee and snacks are good and not overpriced. This is a safe and comfortable way to go. The price is great..

We did an "out and back" ferry trip on the Fourth of July to travel with a friend back to CT. It was a great trip watching the fireworks over Long Island sound on the holiday. :)

While the Ferry was on time, the seating was very dirty. Dust/particles were coming down from the heater and landing on us. Ripped and stained seats. But it did leave and get us to our destination on time.

I traveled to the Boston area from Long Island this week for business. the drive is long, but breaking it up with the approx 90 minute ferry from Orient Point to New London Connecticut made the trip enjoyable... both ways. Employees were helpful, getting on the ship and loading the cars is very organized, and I found these ferries to... More

We were traveling from Arizona to Massachusetts, and decided to visit relatives in Freeport, NY. Upon reviewing our options for travel, we decided to travel to the eastern end of Long Island and the Cross Sound Ferry vs. traveling through NYC and North via I-95. What a great choice!! The reverse commute at 7 in the morning east on the... More

Ferry terminals, embarking and disembarking are very well organized. Tickets are easy to purchase both online and on site. However ships are quite dirty and outdated.
