Explore a half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rock forming crevices, passageways, and caves hidden in an ancient forest! Located just 15 minutes from Chautauqua Lake, Panama Rocks is one of the top-rated attractions in Chautauqua County based on independent reviews on TripAdvisor. The Panama Rocks formations are surrounded by a one mile long hiking trail, but most guests enjoy going off of the main trail to explore! Visitors spend anywhere from one hour to the entire day having fun and exploring the park. Picnic tables are available. The trail is relatively easy to hike (Class 1) and guests of all ages enjoy it, but there are roots, rocks, and uneven ground; it is still a hiking trail! Plan your trip to explore one of the most fun and popular "things to do" in Western New York today!

We visited on a late fall day, it is just beautiful and the rock formations amazing to see! So glad we were able to visit, and planning on visiting again next season! Good to wear hiking boots for traction, lots of leaves when we visited....More

Beautiful walk through the woods. Definitely recommend hiking boots because of the trails, but so worth the adventure.

The beauty of this park is awesome and wonderful! What makes it even better is the fact one can climb/walk on the rocks to experience the scenery from different perspectives. There is a one mile path to walk around the formations with marked areas where...More

Such a find! Just a beautiful area to climb rock formations and nature discoveries. There's an actual mile long path to walk without doing any climbing but we never made it onto the path. We were too busy climbing! Very friendly atmosphere. Everyone helped everyone!...More

Unexpected beauty, hidden away. An easy walk around a 1 mile primitive trail, or you may explore the cracks & crevasses of the rock formations. Also, a fun "treasure hunt", if you like, that slows you down a bit, but in a very good way....More

Enjoyed this place as very pretty park to have a picnic in and not too expensive to enter and do the walk. The rocks are amazing and if you want to climb around a bit you are warned and need to be careful. My sisters...More

I'm a retired Geology teacher and I've been intrigued by the Panama Rocks for some time. My wife (she is actually from the country of Panama) and I spent the week at Chautauqua Institute and, of course, I could not pass up the opportunity to...More

My wife and I took about 90 minutes to walk the 1 mile loop, stopping to go into some of the caves/crevices formed by the formations. A map was provided and the walk is relatively easy. We really enjoyed the time at Panama Rocks. The...More

My husband and I stopped here on a Sunday morning in early September on our drive back to Pennsylvania. It's a family-run operation, and the people at the main office where you must check in are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. As they told us when...More

We really enjoyed our visit to Panama Rocks. Had gone hiking in Acadia National Park earlier in the summer so was looking for another adventure, albeit a bit smaller. The attraction is not the trail but the ability to go off-trail and climb over the...More

Our trail is an easy to moderate hiking trail. There are short stretches with a 20-30% grade and embedded roots and rocks mean that it is not wheelchair/stroller accessible. If a person can walk on uneven ground for a mile... More

There is a rest room available, some area for a blanket picnic and I think a swing set for the kids. It is open from the middle of May to middle of October.
