Overview
More
This unassuming country church contains a stained glass window by Henri Matisse and nine windows by Marc Chagall, all commissioned by Nelson A. Rockefeller. The enthralling story of the windows and how they came to be here is the story of relationships among distinguished patrons and collectors of modern art, two great 20th-century artists, and the leading connoisseurs and tastemakers of the day. WINDOW-VIEWING TOURS ARE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE UNTIL APRIL 2. Please continue to check this listing or go to our website for updates.

Awesome stain glass windows in this old country Church were explained by a lady in the church. It is still a working Nondenominational Church. The Rockefellers built the church and had two french masters do the stain glass. A good stop.

Informative tour and explanation of the stained glass windows. Good thing they had such rich people as patrons that they could afford two masters to design the windows. Other than the windows the church is pretty plain and simple. Just wish they let you take...More

Union Church is a treasure in its own right - given its age, impressive architecture and rich history. Up until the late 1960's it was known as the Sunday gathering and worshipping place of the Rockefeller family. Since that time, however, it has become known...More

You don't have to be religious to appreciate the interior of this church. The contrast of the relatively plain architecture of the walls and wooden pews set off the amazing handiwork of the eleven Marc Chagall stained glass windows and the Matisse window over the...More

I'm reviewing the Church as a tourist site, not as a church in the usual sense. It's quite beautiful, and as the title says, it has original stained glass windows by Chagall and (if memory serves) Matisse as well. And, it's very near the Stoned...More
