Great place for a walk or short run, the walkway is about 1.2 miles long. It can get windy and cold so bring a sweater or coat depending on the season. It can get pretty crowded, and there is an elevator that takes visitors to the water front.

We live on the Poughkeepsie side but love to drive to Highland and walk the bridge on early Saturday and/ or Sunday mornings! We love to get outdoors and the walkway is safe, clean, and the people/dog watching can be fun too. Also it is wonderful to watch the subtle seasonal changes throughout the year as it effects the river... More

If you like scenery and want to enjoy a stroll, job, bike ride, etc., the Walkway is fantastic. Be aware that hot summer days can be tough for dogs, so maybe leave the pups at home for midday or hot day walks.

The Walkway is administered by the NY Department of Parks. Any time of the year this park is a gem. The view in mid to late October is beyond spectacular; but it's exciting to watch the barges traverse the Hudson River through the ice flows in February. The bridge is about 1 1/4 mile long and it connects Poughkeepsie with... More

I had a wonderful day walking with those stricken by ALS and the members of their support systems. The views are amazing and encouraging. The three mile round trip walk served to increase everyone's spirits. The beauty during the fall is outstanding. I highly recommend walking the walk.

Have wanted to go here for yrs. Finally was in the area with good weather! Parked on the Highland side of the Walkway. The many year wait was well worth it. What awesome views-

The Walkway Over the Hudson is amazing. The views were spectacular!! It was a very warm day so you needed water but there are kiosks in either end so no worries! Make the trip, you won't be sorry! The Fall would be good as well!

After a really scenic trip on Amtrak train from Penn station ny, we arrived at the town of Poughkeepsie, (pronounced, perkipsy) we walked up the well signed road through nice urban area up to the main road and the stairs leading up to the old rail bridge now converted to a walkway crossing the Hudson River, a delightful walk to... We did have a hard time, if you can imagine, finding this with our GPS. Large concrete bridge to walk, jog, bike ride etc over the Hudson River.
