I was at Sandy Island Beach to rediscover my youth, and was so disappointed in what I saw when I arrived. Nothing like what it was in my younger years.

It was a struggle this past summer fun to high water. The state did a good job helping to bring back the beach and preserve the dunns. I like it best when it's closed an I can take my dogs

This beautiful upstate treasure has been destroyed by the high water in Lake Ontario. It's unfortunate that the state has had to transport stones, not rip rap, to impede the water damage. Upstate residents have enjoyed this beach for as long as I can remember....More

Great place to watch the sunset . Water is very shallow which we didn't mind. Had a cute little store with beach items in case you forgot something. Enjoyed our time here.

This beach is probably the kind of place that locals think is the nuts! For them, it may be. But, if you have ever been to Eagle or Manchebo Beaches on Aruba, Trunk Bay in St. John's, Ka'anapoli on Maui or even the more commercial...More

In the off season there will be signs telling you not to swim but there's no enforcement (that I'm aware of) and the signs are routinely ignored.
