Historic statue for Historic Icon of US History. The location of his historic July 5, 1852 speech. It is great to visit and look back to the places where history was made. We can still learn from experiences from long ago as they still can apply in some instances today.

In kind of an out of the way place, but a short walk across the street from Highland Park in the Highland Bowl upper part. Visiting is more to commemorate the man, rather then to see a statue.

This is a statue honoring an important figure in black history. Being a resident in Rochester, gives us a significant person to be proud of in quest for equality. There is also an beautiful park, Highland Park with over 500 lilac bushes and a green house that has lovely displaysl

His role in fighting anti apartheid and his success is well highlighted. Ice skating ring nearby offers facility for winter sports . Nearby an open air theatre exists where budding artist perform during summer. A medium sized public library adjacent to it which book lovers enjoy visiting.

You really should go and honor one of the most famous African-Americans in history - a brilliant civil rights thinker, writer and activist. Rochester has quite a few of these historical places to stimulate thought and energize you for your own work on current justice issues.

Classic sculpture of one of Rochester's most famous citizens in a classy location. Overlooking the impressive Highland Bowl, this statue shares the area with the nearby bust-statue of the greeat German poet, Johann von Goethe.

The statue at the entrance to the park has been standing for a long time. It is very impressive. If you have an interest in Douglass, I'd encourage you to find the little park next to Susan B. Anthony's house where there are beautiful bronze statues of "Susan B" as she is known locally, and Frederick Douglass. They are seated... More
