fun walk and hike for an afternoon
May 2020
Cool hiking well marked hiking trails for bird watching and general exploring. Few white tail deer and wild turkeys are in attendance. You are surrounded by the sound and good views of the water and marshland.

Relaxing short walk
Nov 2019 • Friends
The area is against the Sound so its surrounded by water. It's good for the Fall season. There was a guide giving bird watching instructions to a group.
The paths are well defined and there were several groups out that day, but wasn't overcrowded. Good leisurely walk but no open bathrooms just a port a potty

beautiful easy hike through varied flat terrain with wonderful water views
Sep 2019
A beautiful hike which takes you through a well kept woods trail, to a large open field with wildflowers and grasses to a trail through a marshy bog, to a little beach on the sound. All along there are gorgeous views of the water and tidal pools. At the beach there are all sorts of rocks to climb, areas to explore, water to wade in, and different little trails to different areas of the shore. Nice place to picnic on the rocks or beach itself. There is also the ruin of an old stone house. Hiked with 3 adults and a 3, 6 and 8 year old. None of the kids wanted to leave. Check the tides because as the tide comes in the trail over the marsh gets covered with water which we discovered almost before it was too late! Not sure how high it gets but the beach area remains free and clear.

Nice place to hike
Jul 2019 • Couples
I learned about this place through the book “Walkable Westchester” and I’m glad I did. It offers nice hiking trails through the forest and marsh by Milton Harbor in Rye. We loved seeing all the wildlife including a white tailed deer, egrets, and wild turkeys. Some of the trails were flooded or overgrown but that added to the sense of adventure. I wish the cemetery in the middle of the conservancy were open to the public.

One Hour of Pure Hiking Joy!
May 2019 • Family
If you're traveling to Westchester County, and you have one hour to spare then spend it here. The Marhlands Conservancy is located in Rye, NY, a small bucolic town located just east of NYC on Long Island Sound. It's free and comprised of 150 acres of trails that pass through the famous John Jay Estate - the 1st Supreme Court Justice - and work their way down to one of the most beautiful bays on Long Island Sound. We took an easy, conversational hike down to the bay where we witnessed egrets nesting and found a bounty of clams, mussels and surprisingly, oysters along the shore (a sign of a healthy environment). We left everything where we found it, but took great memories home with us.

amazingly beautiful
Apr 2018 • Family
Lovely walks through the woods down to the marshland area and sea. Lots of wildlife, we saw deer, turkeys, nesting osprey, woodpeckers and lots of other birds. Took about 1 hour to walk around. very quiet at 11am. Monday morning only saw 3 other people on our walk. Lots of trees blown down in the previous storms. There is a nature hut with various displays but I believe this is only open at weekend?? No dogs or picnics etc
