The visit to he Saugerties lighthouse is a half mile walk walk each way. Care should be taken at high tide since the walk closest to the venue can be impassable unless you have good hiking boots. The view northward shows cement plant in Cemeton, need to be upriver to see the RipVanwinkle bridge in Catskill. But the clermont estate... More

You can enjoy the lighthouse in 30 minutes or less and you can enjoy it for hours. After a short walk (check the tide chart on their website) the lighthouse appears before you. An interesting and historic adventure on the shores of the Hudson River. Bring a picnic or a fishing pole and don't forget your camera. There is lots... More

My wife and I ventured back to the lighthouse. The trail was sandy and wet in spots, but still easy to navigate. Few people were on the trail the morning we were there, so we had a pleasant hike through the wetlands listening to the birds. Once back at the lighthouse we paused a bit to admire the structure and... More

Great little outing and walk with views, great for kids, can go right up to the lighthouse. Always enjoy coming here for a nice little walk while I'm in Saugerties

This is a magical place located at the end of a 1/2 mile walk through the woods and along the Hudson River with beaches and boardwalks as well as paths through the woods. Suddenly everything opens up and you feel like you are on Martha's Vineyard! It's a truly magical place.

Great way to spend a few hours. Nice views, refreshing, and fun walk. Just get back before the tide comes in and youre stuck out there.

Lighthouses are so much a part of our heritage that whenever possible we will visit them. Now the lighthouse was a bit of a challenge. We didn't realize that the Hudson River was still affected by the tides being so far up north, but it was. Watch the tides or you may get wet.

We visit our town's historic landmark regularly year round, weather permitting. It's the oldest lighthouse on the majestic Hudson River. Eagles are nesting here and there's also a great variety of other water birds and wildlife. Locals come to swim in a nice area behind the house which is also less in the tidal pull. The Lighthouse also serves as... More
