Friend's of ours had their wedding here, it was a lovely setting, especially at night with the bridge lit up. The views of the Manhattan skyline weren't great because if is so far away, and as a wedding venue it was a little short on bathrooms :) Otherwise lovely.

This place is such a pleasure. Not just the house itself but the journey from Manhattan. The free ferry has fantastic views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and much else. A direct bus from the ferry takes one in about 15 mins. to the top of the road down to her house. Strongly recommend eating at the... More

Cool Comfort, Alice Austen's home for generations, has a wonderful calm serenity that stands still in time. Clearly shown in her photographs each view you looked at Alice had photographed with friends and family as subjects.Browsing through some of the four substantial volumes of Alice's photographs it is easy to forget the effort that went into each photograph when we... If you love historic photography then you will find this historic site very interesting. The grounds provide beautiful views of the New York Harbor and Verrazzano Bridge.

The Alice Austin house is a nice place to visit while visiting Staten island. The house brings you back in time, as you can go through some of the old photos and letters in the rear room. Nice place to take photos. It is a bit small to plan a whokle day around so try and find a second place... More

Alice Austen was America's earliest ground breaking female photographers. Her former residence on Staten island has been converted into a museum. This has a permanent collection of her documentary work and other photographic exhibitions.

This is a lovely house, well preserved and with excellent exhibitions of both Alice Austen's historic photography as well as relevant and thoughtful contemporary work.
