Our group thoroughly enjoyed visiting the DeWint national historic Masonic site,where George Washington (who was a Mason his whole life) stayed 4 times. It is an excellent place to learn about colonial life, history, and Freemasonry, with many artifacts that were found on the grounds....More

Quaint historic house that goes back hundreds of years. Not really that muck to see. Ain’t worth a detour.

The DeWint house is owned and operated by the NYS Masons. It is a unique piece of history as George Washington did use it as his headquarters for part of the Revolutionary War. It is a small but nice site. There are other historic sites...More

The DeWint house is a less well known national historic site and served as headquarters of General Washington when he was in southern NY. It is a great place for a visit!

Very small spot. It would be nice if they had history books or something more to explain the signficance other than the short movie. With such sales, maybe they could open up the second story. Extremely well maintained, and the gentleman on duty was courtly...More

Visit was ok... enjoyed waking around the Carriage house more because they had John Andre things in there I have not seen, which is impressive in itself. The video to watch is in dire need of an update and a factcheck, was hard for me...More

Stopped in after lunch at the "76 House" to see George Washington's HQ during a period of the revolution. Excellent restoration and a nice joining museum loaded with local artifacts await as you go back in time. Worth the visit.
