As beautiful as the brochures show
A beautiful waterfall cascading right by the road. This is the waterfall you see in so many Iceland brochures. We walked all the way to the top as far as you could go for great views of the fjord. It was just stunning. Bathrooms (clean as all of them we experienced in Iceland) were available near parking lot. Very popular with tour buses. We were lucky to get there just before two buses arrived.

Must-add to your list of Icelandic waterfalls!
If you can get to the Westfjords on your trip to Iceland you MUST visit this waterfall. We have been to Iceland multiple times now and we have seen all of the major waterfalls. This one is a must. You can hike so close to it and up so much of it. Plus its location is truly unique. If you drive there you also get to see the beautiful areas up in the mountains that feed the waterfall and it's beautiful as well. There are clean bathrooms and parking on site and you have a stunning view of the fjord that this fall runs into.

Is this the best waterfall in all of Iceland?
On our trip through the Westfjords we debated which sights to see and which to skip. There are so many things to see, and we simply didn't have time for them all. We are so glad we didn't take a pass on Dynjandi! This is a strong contender for our favorite waterfall in all of Iceland, and given the competition that is really saying something. After taking many kilometers of unpaved roads to get there, we parked in the late afternoon sun and hiked up the little trail. What makes this set of falls fun is that you can see the largest and most impressive part of the falls from the parking area, but there are numerous smaller falls on the way up. Each is named and has its own unique look and appeal. The trail gets steeper near the top, but it is not that long, and you have chances to stop and admire the view along the way. At the very end, you can stand in or near the spray from the bridal veil flow of the upper falls. It is bigger than you think! As a bonus, the view back down the fjord from here is amazing. So when you reach the top, be sure to turn around and get the panorama in all its glory. That may have been my single favorite view in the entire country.

The falls are amazing, there are actually 6 more falls leading up to the larger one. The walk is easy until near the top, when it gets very steep and slippery. The drive there from Isafjordur was steep, lots of construction, the usual no guard rails with crazy high drop offs. Drive slowly and carefully!

Lots of waterfalls pepper the landscape of Iceland, and this one stands above the rest as an absolute must to. There are a dozen tiers, with the top one spilling over the cliff, and each one below unique and beautiful. There is a nice parking area, and the hike up is easy - you can stop anywhere along the way.

Visiting here was a worthwhile experience. The falls are gorgeous and one can hike quite a distance toward the top. The path is somewhat rugger at times but doable for most with a little care. The views from near the top are awesome as is every little view close up on the journey upward. Of all the natural sites we visited on our Icelandic journey, this was one of the best.

If you can manage to get here, by all means visit Dynjandi. Be sure to hike up all the way to the base of the upper falls to experience a wide variety of views and smaller falls as well. We managed to visit as part of a cruise, but some people were there who arrived by car. Iceland is full of magical waterfalls that are all different. Dynjandi definitely is worth a visit if you can fit it into your itinerary.

Fantastic waterfall! We did a group excursion here when on a cruise recently, coming from the port at Isafjordur. 100% worth the trip. You've got the enormous fall hugging the side of its drop (rather than plunging in open air) and then a series of cascades going all the way down to the road. To get to where the main fall "arrives" is a bit of a climb. There are steps and such, but I didn't see any mobility accomodations either. Our group only stopped there for about an hour. Ideally, I would have wanted 90 minutes. Just standing there and staring at it will take some time! Trying to get a good photo, even more time (there's just so much to try to take in). It's not as powerful as some of Iceland's more famous falls, but it is simply beautiful. Find a way to get there!

This waterfall is so nice on pictures and it´s even nicer in reality! It´s really magical! It will take you about 15 minutes to get near to the waterfall right from quite large parking lot. There are also several nice and clean bathrooms there. Only a bit "shocking" experience for us was the amount of people here - Westfjords are a bit of a forgotten land but not here. There were suddenly out of nowhere plenty of people at this waterfall and 3 tourist buses in the parking. After we left this site, again almost nobody on the roads. Unbelievable :-)

We visited from a cruise ship and rented a car. It was an easy and scenic drive with lots of views along the way. The hike up the falls to the various viewing points is steep in a view spots so watch your footing. I went all the way to the highest point and it was amazing to feel the intensity of the water crashing down. We saw several beautiful falls in Iceland and this was one of my favourites.

As the title says, Iceland has no shortage of stunning waterfalls of all shapes and sizes. This one is particularly pleasing to the eye, and nestled in a beautiful fjörd to top it off.

A nice path up to get all the instagram photos you want and overall definitely worth the stop or even the drive from Patreksfjörður or Ísafjörður.
