I see some reviews about a Renaissance Fair and tickets to get in? That's not what Sterling Forest is all about. I'm sure they host a fair some time in the year but I've never been to said fair. I have visited Sterling Forest to...More

The park itself is nice with some peaceful trails, but nothing more than that. There's a few bridges and small bodies of water, however nothing else really other than a visitors center type house. If you are going here for one of the events, that's...More

We visited on a Thursday, so there was nobody there but us, which was nice. The visitors center has a lot of fascinating models of the area showing the mining operation set up from long ago. We learned a lot! There is also a fun,...More

We liked to be in the State Park a lot. Peaceful atmosphere, you can watch the birds and nature. Not a lot of people are there, so perfect for every day.

Sterling Forest State Park is a beautiful Park with an awesome lake. You can see all kind of birds, even some who are just in this area. The park is clean and neat, but not overly organized. Good adventure for a couple of hours.

Located only an hour from New York City this amazingly beautiful park has everything for the family, Forest, Lakes, Wildlife, Hiking, Fishing and pleasant country roads. Not crowded and there is a visitor center that is well worth a stop.

Take the hike to the fire tower. Great views of surrounding area and Greenwood lake. On a real clear day you can see NYC in the distance. Another great hike is around Sterling lake. Enjoy!

About 4 1/2 miles. Entrance near the Visitor's Center pass briefly by a residential section to the West and a Environmental Research Center to the east. The hike was West to East registered having 21 flights on my phone. The blue markers were excellent.

Not on the paths but you can picnic by the visitor's center. They are concerned about bears and are strict about food and carry in and carry out.
