Fantastic dives the Maritim divers this week! As a novice / nervous diver I felt safe at all times. The equipment was top notch and in excellent condition. The staff were really friendly but provided excellent supervision and instructions and made the whole experience very special .

Very professional instructors, we did our very first dives with them. They took care of everything, are well organised and took best care of our safety. Everyone speaks fluent english, so easy to communicate. We had the feeling that what they are doing is more than a job for them, they love what they do.
Reasonable prices and they even picked us up from our hotel in Trou aux biches

Dear team of Maritim Dive Center Mauritius, Balaclava!
I am very happy and grateful that I met you in 2012.
Diving with you is an absolute highlight. Your kindness, attention and service are exceptionally good. The organization, planning and division of the divers into small groups - depending on the training level - testify to the high competence.
I felt welcome again from the first second. Your concern for me and loving care are exemplary. Since I was not allowed to dive this year because of an injury, you offered me a special snorkel tour. I even got a diving suit and a guide with a lifebuoy for support. It was a fantastic experience to even snorkel outside the reef!
Thank you very much for your great warmth and helpfulness!!!
I am already looking forward to the next holiday with / with you! Elona

i am not sure how things work in Mauritius. we stayed at the Beachcomber and paid for a parasailing for 4 people/4 turns. we made it clear that our children would take two turns should they be too light and have to go together/in tandem. when we got to Maritime and having waited 30min for the boat we were told that we would only have one turn each and in tandem, contrary to what we paid for and agreed upon. The staff at Maritime would not budge and pretended not to understand English.
Very, very disappointed and a bitter tasted left after all the promise.

Went to pay the bill after a mornings diving to find an extra 1000 “transfer fee” even though we left from the hotel jetty. Asked other divers who has not been charged. They insisted it was to transport me to the dive site, a 10 minute boat ride away from the hotel. Dived a wreck but the boat driver put us in the wrong place and had to give up finding it after 20 mins going around in circles, found it eventually but wasted half a tank. They thought it was funny, i didn’t. Did not check my license, no buddy checks just straight in. In fact the boat captain wanted me to get my bcd on without checking everything worked first. Dive guides nice and knowledgeable though, happy to dive with them, but the boat/office staff are awful. Went to challenge them about the charge and they insisted it applies, even though I am stood next to another diver who has never paid it in the week he has been there. Awful, avoid!

The staff is really nice and proffesional. If its a while since your last dive, they wil have a short refreshing session for free. There's a pool just behind the office where you will have this course. I checked Other companies and they took 900 rupees for this course. They have 28 different diving spots so you have many places to choose from. It depends where the best view is. I check many Diver companies and I ended up with this one. I never regretted it. The Diving started from their office at the beach. All the equipment was good and they had everything you needed. They were cheap and you got what you paid for. One dive was 2000 rupies, but if you do 5 you will get the 6. dive for free. I was only going to dive one time but I just love the first time so I went the second dive. The only thing i regret is that I didn't take the advanced course. If i had planned better I would do that here.
So if you're going to dive and are in the area you should definitely choose this one. I promise you that you won't regret it.

Am an experienced diver from the uk, 400+ dives etc. Just did 6 dives with these guys. Very friendly staff, decent boat, decent dive sites (esp Lost Anchor, Stella Maru & Azuma Maru wrecks).
Split divers up according to experience, which makes all the difference and so you get a decent dive.

We organised a dive with pool session whilst staying at the resort, neither of us had dived before. The instructors were patient and kind, but also had a great sense of humour which is wonderful when you're feeling nervous!
The guys really put us at ease, and soon enough we were plunging into the ocean in full gear (backwards, much to my panic although I really didn't need to). Sadly I didn't dive in the end as I could not overcome my fear after attempting to go down a little way, so my partner carried on without me and LOVED it, he's hooked and can't wait to return to dive again! They were so kind to me even though I felt like a massive wimp (I kicked myself for days for chickening out) and understood that maybe it isn't for everyone, but encouraged me to try it again if I could which I intend to do on a return visit. I want to make it clear that they worked very hard to keep me calm, and it was only my own head that scared myself out of it because they said and did all the right things, telling me to just enjoy it and I could hold their hand! They didn't charge us for my part of the dive in the end which we didn't expect as it was completely my fault and I had got in the boat and in the water with the gear, we were really impressed with them for this.
We hope to return to the Maritim again and will definitely be paying the guys at the dive centre a visit, hopefully more successfully for me next time so I can redeem myself (I'm still a little embarrassed). I have no doubts that they can put you at ease and will ensure a safe and fun dive for all. Thank you so much - Chris and Enya (who didn't dive!) from England

Managed to dive at both Balaclava and their new East coast centre and would recommend either to all - I didn't stay at the Maritim and walked by 2 dive centres in Balaclava to get to these each morning, well worth it (BTW they will pick you up but I liked the beach stroll!). Good dive sites near to each centre. Professional friendly guys in a relaxed atmosphere; many thanks to all especially Clive for all his help and kindness. Mark & Sally

We've used a lot of dive centres round the world and this one is pretty much the best we've used. The staff are very experienced, knowledgeable and well trained. The equipment is in good condition and up to date. It's very conveniently located in the Maritim Resort and Spa so is just a few minutes walk from your room
We had five very good dives including a night dive and a wreck dive. Coral is beautiful although, sadly, I saw a crown of thorns starfish. I gather they have a plan for them! Fish are abundant as are eels and we also saw turtles.
In October, ie their spring, you definitely need a wetsuit. Ours were 3mm and adequate but next time I'll take a hood at that time of year.
Speaking as a diver of some 40 years experience, I would definitely recommend this dive centre.

Hi - you can ask me here on the tripadvisor platform. What would you like to know? Basically: it is a well kept ressort - not new. nice beach, nice setting, nice big area for walks. We had a look at some other hotels in the same category: The maritim one met our wishes best. As we are divers anyway: Very good divebase and other watersports right at the spot. Service at the hotel very good. Rooms tidy. Good food in all variations. All best henry
