We went on a three island trip to Gabriel Island. Great crew and boat. Lovely lunch, with vegetarian options, beers and punch and snorkelling at the island. A great day out.

A wonderful half day fishing trip. Staff are knowledgeable and professional. We got lucky and caught a 156lb tuna and a dorado. Thoroughly recommended, just remember that you go quite a few miles out and it can get quite choppy even on a calm day. Suggest a travel-sickness tablet if you are at all prone to motion sickness.
Thanks guys for a great day - one to remember for a long time.

Dear Tim, Thanks a lot for your nice review. We always try to give the best experience to our guests, sometimes our clients are lucky and come back with some great catches, sometimes the fish can be shy and unfortunately don't bite, sometimes the fish fights well and finds its way out, its fishing! But even when fishing is good or not, we try to give our guests an enjoyable day out at sea. Hope to see you again on board with us. Kind regards, Jean-Paul

I have fished from Grand Baie for some 10 years using the hotel boat. In fairness to the hotel, all was professional and caught many fish. The hotel boat couldn't accommodate me this time.

The difference with Sportsfisher is that they communicate and educate you when you fish. I got lucky and caught 2 yellow fin tuna (143 & 148 lbs).

Fishing is a lot of luck, but the difference with Sportsfisher is they talk and take you you through the whole experience. And you learn.

Thank you Stephen & Curtis.

Have no reservations using this company.

Early spring 2017 we had an amazing day out with sportfisher. So great it made me download TripAdvisor just to tell people about it.
Yesterday we were fortunate enough to board their 50 footer for yet another wonderful trip which ended with us having 6 fair sized Dorado on the deck. All five guests got to fight a fish. The crew of skipper Michel and deckhands Michael and Curtis(?)did a great job. Constantly on the radio for tips and scouting for birds and feeding fish. Not afraid of plowing straight through fields of seaweed since Dorado like to hide there. Risking tangles and extra work didn't concern them the slightest, not even when rope caught the propeller in said seaweed and the deckhands had to dive under the boat to cut it lose did it cloud their wonderful mode.

Even if you end up catching no fish, wich is a real possibility, you'll have a great time on board and youll greatly appreciate the hard work these guys put into giving their guests a great day out.

Amazing guys! If the boss is reading this I hope they are soon in line for a raise😉

Booked a half day big game fishing trip with Sportfisher. I went on one of the 42ft fishing boat as it was a little cheaper than the other bigger fishing boats.
Their docks are located at Sunset Boulevard which is a very nice and welcoming area in Grand Baie. We boarded our boat and off we went out at sea. The crew were very friendly and at my great suprise there were free beers offered on the boat. We didn't catch any marlin that day but had a lot of fun catching a dorado, a wahoo and some small bonitos. Overall we had a very nice experience and will definately be booking another fishing trip with them.

We were first timers with the initial idea just to watch others during fishing. But we were quickly convinced to try by ourselves. So, this is not at all an expert review.
But we had a great day out on sea, the crew seamed very professional to us, looking constantly to get us some fish and also helping us once there was a fish hooked. And after some thuna they got us 2 nice dorados.

So I decided I'd book a couple of days fishing whilst on holiday in Mauritius..

Sportfisher was recommended to me by a friend who had caught a huge 1206lb blue marlin with them so I was confident they would put me on the fish.

The communication I got from Jean Paul was fantastic. He picked me the best tide and phases of the moon set the dates.

When I arrived at their office at Sunset Boulevard Grand Baie I was met with a smile and a handshake, a warm reception. The same could be said of the crew Michael, Michel and J. Denis.

I was told what we would be doing and what species we would be targeting.

The boats are superbly equipped with good quality tackle. Penn International 130's, 80's and 50's various quality Stand up rods including my favourite Alba Rods,

We fished the stunning Indian ocean around the small islands.

We soon hooked into some fish and we caught some good sized Bonito this was followed by a stunning Dorado, my first. A couple more Bonito saw the day out. Of all the boats out that day we caught the most fish.

The crew worked tirelessly to get me a marlin but on this occasion I was not so lucky.

He second day was calmer we started by Jogging lures around Round island. Diawa saltist reels along with Shiman Stella and Saltigas and equally good rods to match were provided.

We had a number of good hits but failed to hook the fish initially, if it was easy we'd call it catching not fishing.

A change in position proved fruitful, my friend Richard landed a King Mackerel and after a short while I hooked into a Black Trevally , again a first for me.

After this we trolled looking for the illusive Billfish I had been looking for.

The crew, again Michael, Michel and J.Denis. They worked really hard changing the lures keeping the team we had out fresh. From my vantage point at the back of the boat I saw a swirl in the water and with that my reel was off, clearly a Marlin. A tense battle then ensued man against beast, all the time Michael and Richard coaching me and offering encouragement as the fish went on rod bending and reel screaming runs. Around an hour later I was rewarded with my first ever Marlin, the crew as ecstatic as I was with my maiden Marlin and a rarer Black Marlin at that.

All in All I can't fault this very professional outfit. From start to finish warm , welcoming and friendly. Don't be lured by cheap imitations, if you want to catch decent fish with decent gear go with Sportfish, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks again to Jean-Paul, Michael, Michel and J. Denis and of course my fishing partner for the day Richard Wooding

Dear Chris, It was a pleasure to have you on board one of our boats! I am sincerely happy you had such a great time during those 2 days fishing here. I must admit that it was not the most favorable time for marlin fishing as we were off the marlin season. We were very confident for the dorado and a bit more cautious concerning your chance to land a marlin, but you finally managed to get both. The whole team made a great job and many thanks also to your exceptional "Coach", Richard Wooding on your 2nd day out at sea. We hope to see you here again, in the meantime I wish you all the best! Kind regards, Jean-Paul

First of all you need to be very cautious booking deep sea fishing on Mauritius, there are a lot of semi-professionals with unsafe boats on the market. Their prices are only a bit lower (16.000 Ruupies) but service is awful.
The total opposite is sportsfisher. For 23.000 you have a modern 42-52ft boat with wave absorbers.
The 2 guys on the boat are bilingual French and English and they explain what’s going on.
The best: They help couples to share prices with others, which saves 50% and 2 guest for 3 seats is anyway too much.
Catch is almost guaranteed because they know where to go at what season and weather.
