In understanding the mixed Portugese and Arab history the fort is worth a visit. It is still an interesting structure on the waterfront in town.

When I visited the Fort, local people were dismantling stage and seats because apparently there was a festival the day beforw, so the place was a bit messy. Still I would recommend to go there for a visit. You can get some really nice shots...More

It's remnant of a fort built to defend the harbor. The interior hosts a number of stalls with people selling various types goods. There is an amphitheater that is used for various presentations that was added in the 1990's that is remarkable because of the...More

Not a lot to see unless you are interested in old forts. Our guide did explain the story behind its existence but truthfully it is being left to decay.

It is an old fort, not much more. There are now vendors inside the walls, but be certain to bargain HARD as the prices quoted are about twice what they will ultimately take. Walk away st least twice. I did not see any helpful signage,...More

Simple place for a short stop. I had no problem with pushy vendors as opposed to many complaints from others about this place.

Even though we had a guide with us when walking through here, I still couldn't tell you what it was used for. Really nothing to see except a large green piece of grass inside with some shops selling souvenirs.

Check out my reviews with Yussef - the tour was long and the sights were many. Yussef was full of history of the place. Watch out not to get caught looking at the local merchandise you might get a bit of pestering.

The building is very old and historic. We were advised that there really wasn't much to do inside so we only admired the building from the outside. Very similar to Fort Jesus in Mombasa, Kenya.
