This was a fun experience but not for everyone. Food was good and affordable. Lots of poor feral cats scrounging for food - broke my heart to see them treated so poorly. Be prepared for everyone to try and get you to come to their booth. Take your time and find what you want to eat. Sugar cane juice with... More

If you want to try real Zanzibar cuisine, you must visit Forodhani Park during the evening and check out the food market there. It opens at around 6:30 pm. Most of the sellers offer pretty much the same food so we advise to first to take a walk around the place and then choose based on the hygiene levels and... More

For the strong stomachs and also slowly loosing its price attractiveness. Hygiene is questionable as no facilities for running water on site so all cleaning is from containers. To avoid this vendors have started using plastic plates and cutlery which unfortunately is just throw over into the sea. There should be awareness created on this.

The park is actually quite small and there isn't anything exciting to see or do except to enjoy the food. I strongly recommend the Zanzibar pizza. P.S if you are not a fan of cats, try out another spot. They are everywhere.

Many food booths but not a lot of variety. Great place to people watch and good spot for sunset. Try the Zanzibar pizza. There were a lot of boots selling meats and seafood on skewers.

Forodhani Park (also known as Jubilee Gardens) is a small park of about 3-4 acres located on the seafront of Stone Town, very close to 3 other historical landmarks of Zanzibar namely Arab Fort, House of Wonders and Palace Museum. The gardens were laid out in 1936 to venerate the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Sultan Khalifa (who reigned 1911-60) and... More

Don't get the fuzz, it's a park. Not very large, and nothing special about it. Lots of street food in the evening.

We'd heard that this was a great open air food court at night. Well, there are plenty of vendors but they all serve the same skewered meat and fish (that I broke a tooth on). The real attraction is the hundreds of cats that magically appear when the food does and "kill" and eat any chunks you toss to them.... More

The Forodhani Park comes alive after 6 p.m. with numerous vendors cooking and selling their wares. The atmosphere is electric with locals and tourists mingling and enjoying the cooler evening, local kids throwing themselves off the harbour hall with abandon. The food is cheap (you must barter) and very tasty, but much the same from stall to stall. Being Africa,... More
