Interesting to visit the Government's Spice Farm with a local guide and to discover all types of spices. If you have never see one, it worth. Disappointing however because this is not really a farm in activity but just to show tourists how we produce spices. You may even taste them and buy small plastic bags with spices (at you... More

I had this spice tour arranged by the hotel I stayed in. It was not expensive and a nice outing to see the countryside towards the north of the town. It is probably about 30 mins drive to the spice farm, in a small minibus. We were shown many different spices and the guides explained quite a bit. We were... More

The guides know exactly what they are doing. Make sure you have a look at the rick doors of stone town, make your way to the market and buy something especially spices and clothes.

I absolutely loved this tour and the only downside was that we went out of season for cacao We got to try so many fruits and spices and tea, we learnt so much history and got an insight into local day to day living and working conditions. Our tour guide was awesome, humorous and spoke fluent English. Would recommend highly... More

Lots of fun! Lots of information to be learnt and spices to be tasted. James climbed trees to gather tastings and another person climbed a coconut tree to show us how to collect these. Everyone was given a coconut to drink and then eat - was delicious! Tour guide was very good with good sense of humour. Although no verbal... More

Took the long tour which included an hour at the beach. The tour takes around 2 hours around the farm. Or guide was knowledgeable and hand good command of English. We were introduced to most of the spices we usually only see as dried and powdered: cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, tumeric /kurkuma, vanilla, pepper. We had the chance to taste most... More

We went to maganga spice farm for the tour and learn a lot from our guide Mwalimu. It was well worth the drive there which is quite long from stone town. We got to learn about spices and how they are planted, we got to see how the climb up the palm trees. He sang for us while on top... More

We went to the local spice farm- there was a guide that showed us all the spices and gave us such an informative tour! All the trees & plants were beautiful! Afterwards they gave us a coconut& a variety of local fruit to taste! We supported the local farm by buying spices and perfume made from local flowers/spice plants- although... More

Such a great cultural experience. Our second time on a tour. There are multiple choices for farms. I'm always amazed at the knowledge of the spices. The boys like the coconut climb and water. Everyone walks away with a homemade hat and feeling like they are better for it.
