Amazing wildlife viewing
Jan 2021
Lots of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and lots of birds all within easy sight of the boat, that takes about 2 hours to go round each side of the river. i would say it's the best way to see wildlife in Queen Elizabeth park and definitely a must do if you are visiting for the first time.

Spectacular boat cruise. Many different types of animals and in large groups. Good look at the Fisherman's boats and village.

Wildlife everywhere!
Apr 2021 • Couples
This is a must do experience. For 2 hours we sailed along the Kazinga channel and were taken aback by all of the wildlife. A truly relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable trip which offers you some great photo opportunities. Loved it!

So amazing we had to come again the next day
Jan 2021
The experience was so fantastic that we visited the next day again and stayed for 4 hours this time!
So much to see and such an easy and enjoyable way to view game. Particularly in contrast to viewing from a vehicle. Must do!

Different type of game 'drive'

2 hours on Kazinga Channel bring you very close to elephants, hippos and water buffaloes. Also crocodiles and birds cross your way. Highly recommended activity before you go back to the lodge to relax at the pool.

Perfect mix of wildlife and culture!
Nov 2020
Our first experience on the channel as a boat cruise, we saw a lot pf hippos, male buffalos, birds, and then, our captain got a call and rushed us across the channel to catch up with a family of elephants at the edge. We were able to watch them fr a while next t the hippos, drinking, eating and playing, there were a few little ones in the group. The boat cruise was just incredible, we could not have asked for a better experience!
We came back to the channel the next morning to see what the fish market was like. People were warm and welcoming and ready to share their lives with us. We saw boats coming in full of fish, and the different steps of sales (auctions) that happen as the fish moves from the boat to someone actually taking it home. It was really fun! We were even able to try a piece of fried landfish! If you have a chance to got o the fish market, make sure you do, we had our Gorilla Trek guide who helped us navigate and explain everything,.

The Kazinga Channel teems with wildlife
Sep 2019
The Kazinga Channel teems with wildlife – everything from the mighty elephant, that makes it’s trek down the hill from the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to the watering hole to drink and play; the hippos that will scare you as you feel that if the boat were to tip you would be their next meal; the water buffalo that are bigger than you thought; the crocodiles that lay with their mouths open to breathe and the countless birds in the trees and monkey species running along the shore playing or relaxing in the trees.

The boat ride was 2 hours long and we took off from the shore below the Myewa Safari Lodge, at the Mweya Penninsula. By the way, Mweya Safari Lodge is one of the places we will be staying at when we visit this area.

The Kazinga Channel is a wide, 32-kilometer long natural channel connecting two Lakes; Lake George to the east and Lake Edward to the west. Many consider the Channel to be one of the most important features of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Wildlife watching from the water - a wonderful experience
Dec 2019
We took the UWA boat. There was a running commentary that helped in locating the wildlife. No sooner was the opposite bank visible than we started viewing a number of birds close to the edge of the water. Later during the trip we saw the hippos, elephants, wild boar, crocodiles, eagles etc. So long was the opposite bank was visible, some bird or animal could be viewed.

However, the boat ride was poorly managed. We spent a long time sitting inside the car while our driver went to procure the tickets. Once close to the boarding point there were about 4 boats all either filled up or in process of getting filled-up. When we were able to locate our designated boat, we found that both decks of boat was completely filled there was no enough sitting space for the 5 persons in our group that included one person above 75 years and two above 60 years. We were asked to stand and maybe get some makeshift seat later during the cruise. We naturally decided not to proceed and got down from the boat. Just then a group of tourists decided against proceeding with the cruise in view of over-filling of the boat and disembarked. As we had limited time at our disposal and coming back again was not an option, we took their vacated seats in the lower deck. Later during the course of the cruise we saw that another boat had got stuck in the sand at the opposite bank and efforts were underway to pull it out.

Be that as it may, the cruise is certainly recommended and definitely worth the money spent on it.

Great Experience - Boat Safari
Feb 2020
The Boat ride along the Kazinga Channel which connects Lake George with Lake Edward is a fabulous experience!

The sights of hippos and crocodiles lounging by the river is commonplace; but the birding is excellent! We spotted nearly 40 species of birds – nearly half our tally for the whole of QENP – and that too in a single 3 hour boat safari!!

A must do for any visitor to QENP!
