From the lighthouse ,which is at the northern tip of Aruba, you can see both the rugged coastline of the east side of the island and along the beaches on the west side. If you're lucky the van selling smoothies will be there ! We were not able to go inside the lighthouse but you don't need to to see... More

I have always dreamed of seeing (and touring) a lighthouse! The experience was amazing. The guide was very friendly! He was very knowledgeable of the history behind it! He let us spend as much time at the top as we wanted and never rushed us to leave! This was a quick tour but I highly recommend, just be ready to... More

The lighthouse recently opened to the public. For $8 you can climb 120+ stairs and get access to the best view in all of Aruba. I will not lie, it was quite the climb, but the views were worth it. From the top of the lighthouse you can see the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and where the two meet. We... More

The lighthouse is at the northern end (Noord) of L.G. Smith Blvd. It is easily accessible by tour, taxi or rental car. There are good views of the northern half of the island from the hilltop promontory. A visit is best combined with an around the island drive unless going to view the sunset. There is a food truck and... More

The California Lighthouse is a mandatory stop on every tour of the island. It is perched on a high elevation providing stunning views of the island and coastline. It is named after the S.S. California which sunk off the coast of Aruba.

There really isn't much to see or do here but it's one of those checklist items you must do while in Aruba. It's name comes from a cargo ship (the SS Californian) that sunk off the coast of Aruba in 1891 (the lighthouse was not finished until 1910) so they were definitely on island time in reacting to that incident.... My husband and I rented bicycles for the day and rode out to the lighthouse. We were glad we did! The view is amazing at the top even without going up the lighthouse. We had drinks and enjoyed a wonderful inexpensive lunch in the open-air Italian restaurant. I didn't want to leave! We rented the mountain bikes from Aruba Active... More

We drove a UTV off-roading to get to the lighthouse - which was very fun, but the lighthouse itself was just there with food trucks all around (that were lound with their generators running). It was a small lighthouse and you had to pay to climb it (which we didn't) - so all and all a bit of a disappointment.

The lighthouse was closed, but it's a great place to overlook the island at sunset. Pretty restaurant next to the lighthouse. Worth a trip.
