We only drove through parts of this National Park on our way down from San Francisco Pass toward Copiapó. Its extensions are immense and I have the impression that as a non local, a hike or mountaineering excursion should probably involve a local guide.

Incredibly beautiful and spiritual. Nevado Tres Cruses has the 5th or 6th highest peak in the Andes ( depending on source) and the 11th highest peak. All three peaks are over 20,000 feet. Highly recommended

We had a tour guided by Ramon. The sights were fantastic, the highlights of which were the Ojos Volcano and Laguna Verde. Some people that reviewed complained about altitude sickness. The highest we reached was 4500m above sea level, and we were fine. Anyone that...More

Hello, it's easy and cheap To go To Copiapo by bus, but then, you'll have To hitch-hike To the park as the tours and guide are really expensive. It is a shame because the park is Nice.

Hmmm. You could certainly rent a 4WD and go through the park on your own. Just be aware that the area is quite desolate. And that comment comes from someone from Wyoming! I would be certain to have a good map! There are... More
