Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just amazing...again !!!! Second trip to Rhodes and love it for the people, the food, the ruggedly beautiful interior and unspoilt Afantou beach. Spring and Autumn flowers on the sand and roadside by beach. Visited all beaches except Faliraki and and South East. Afandou . End of season rip off with rude guy on mini train...he was a one off misery guts but noone can spoil Rhodes for me! €2 per person per journey. You get on, you get off, wherever but classed as a journey and great value although would imagine peak season a nightmare as just in and out of hotels etc. But this old guy charged us 8 Euros and then 8 € again on return. It's an easy lovely walk down and back and it's only this one guy who has fleeced us so...Very aggressive but life too short so sucked it up!
Never had a bad meal ..but highly recommend Stegna Kozas, Hellas in Archangelou, Panorama on bend of main road opposite Tsambika with great views, Pigi Fasouli in Psinthos. Too many to name.....

I cannot belive the review written By jewelz. I go to this beach every day even in winter. Can honestly say have never seen dead cats or maggots.Never seen anyone mistreat cats at the beach or in the village. When I go to a bar in the square 2 cats come & sit on my lap.Locals feed & water them.Local greeks are very welcoming. They will say hello even if they do not know you.
The beach is very long but stoney & in places shelves quickly making it difficult to get in & out of the sea. There are 3 canteens on the beach( one has toilets ) plus there are a number of beach bars & tavernas along the beach.

This beach aswell as the golden days hotel is dirty and disgusting.
With the most rude ignorant people on earth
The beach is filthy.
And the locals are very horrible to cats

Lovely beach and very quiet. The sea is warm and clear. Take beach shoes because it’ll be easier getting in and out of the sea.

Our first time here . Although the water was very clear and inviting . The facilities are basic . There is a beach shack serving takeaway food . But toilets are in the golf club of which there was only one in use and this was quite disgusting !!
Sun beds reasonable €10 each plus bamboo sunshade. Rocky/pebbly beach . Peaceful though .

Gorgeous beach, 2 sunloungers, parasol and 2 bottles of water 14euros by the bar. Sea is perfect for swimming in, water is so clear and isn't nearly as crowded as other beaches on the island. Just be careful when first going in the sea as its very stony for the first 2feet, would recommend this beach though as its beautiful

What a find this is. We located ourselves at past midway point where there was a great bar with too tunes and beds where free if you got your drinks from the bar.
Water was so clear and loved swimming there. It is a bit pebbly when you get in but once you are past that it just gets better.
It must be good as it was full of locals of all ages enjoying themselves. 😎

we had a mile walk to the beach. was 12 euros for two beds and brolly the beach was quite nice. the sea went deep quit quickly. only went one day because there was only a little caravan with chairs under the trees for food. but there was only sandwiches and drinks. sandwiches were very dry not nice at all. if the taverna across the road was open we most probably would of returned to the beach more.

I felt I must write a review of afandou beach. Some reviews are saying its a desolate place & nothing there.
How wrong .
There are loungers along the beach with FREE toilets & showers.Alongside the Golf Course is a cantina & a shack serving drinks & snacks. At the shack you are requested to pay a small fee to use their toilets. The money goes to animal charities. Also on the beach are 3 tavernas including a fish taverna. There are a couple of beach bars with loungers.
The beach is a mix of a little sand & lots of stones.Stones in the water & it shelves deeply.
One end of the beach has a promonade with benches.

Hi have just read your review on Afandou beach. I notice you stayed at the Nimar, and as that is where we are staying in just over 2 weeks, could you give me any more info on what the beach has in way of a taverna sun beds and brollies etc., we have never been to this part of Rhodes before, so any advice on catching buses to Rhodes town or to Faliraki beach or any other beach that we could visit would be very useful. We don't drive now so have to use public transport. Thanks.

I’m sorry I don’t know where it says that I stayed at the Nimar? We didn’t, we stayed in Ialyosos. It was my 3rd visit to Rhodes.
We hired a car which worked out at €20 a day having it fit more than 3 days. There are plenty of bus stops and bus routes. I’m not sure about all hotels but the excursions from our hotel, in my opinion, were over priced. You can easily do all activities you wish if you carefully plan prior to your visit, make notes of all bus stops and their times.
The Island is beautiful and it doesn’t take too long to get to and from some fantastic places.
Do you like to see and experience the history or are you looking for beaches? If it’s beaches then I recommend all of these:
Lindos
Anthony Quinn’s bay
Pefki
Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to knoe

Hello we are staying nearby. Is there a sandy beach within walking distance?
RadioAnorak
Rhodes, Greece9,104 contributions
No sandy beaches in walking distance.Nearest is Faliraki. Its a long beach & is very busy near Faliraki centre. A quiet area is at Kastri taverna just before the all inclusive hotels. If going by bus you need to be sure the bus is going on the coastal road into Rhodes town.just ask the driver before boarding.

Hello! I’m coming to Afandou in July and wondered if there was bike hire? Many thanks

Hi there Lydia, I didn't see one but there isn't much at all in Afandou and, as we went at the end of September, things were closing down. I believe there was a motorbike hire on the square in town. Sorry I can't be of further help to you. Enjoy your holiday to Afandou. Lynne
