- FamilyFirst_12Chicago, Illinois57 contributionsEnjoyable EveningWe did the dinner package and Hot Pools option. The food was actually amazing which is why I gave it 4/5. We both had the filet and actually was my favorite meal of the trip. The drinks were tasty but seemed weak. It was quite crowded everywhere we went in the pools. The service was very good in the pools. One thing we didn't know until after we got there was to bring your own towel. We had to rent towels from them and pay. You do get a locker which is nice. It seemed clean for the most part.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2023
- haworth19611 contributionThe amazing massageAs we were greeted by staff in the amazing restaurant area with towering ceilings, given refreshing green tea and then invited to the massage area on the second level made us feel as though we were in tropical overseas destination. The massage was professionally done leaving us feeling refreshed and special. Thank you for amazing experience.Visited March 2023Written 4 April 2023
- Kerry RNew Zealand1 contributionBeautiful tranquil poolsOn arrival you feel like you are in the tropics. Beautiful garden setting. We enjoyed the soak in these pools while enjoying a couple of cocktails and A plates of food. Would recommend a visit. Only negative is the change rooms are not large enough to cater for everyone.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 8 April 2023
- Tsering PAuckland, New Zealand6 contributionsPleasant even in SummerThis was our second visit to The Lost Spring and we had the Dip & Dine package this time. We had two hours in the water and a fantastic main meal in the restaurant. Poolside cocktails were fabulous and really well made and the staff are so nice and efficient. We were a group of 5 adults and although it’s quite a romantic place there were lots of other family/friend groups too. This time we went it seemed a lot less crowded than our pre-covid visit. We spent most of our swim in the big cooler pool (about 24 degrees) under the swing bridge where you can recline out on a bit of an underwater platform. I really liked the Polynesian music they had pumping and the real tropical oasis vibe of the place. The whole grounds are beautiful not too big to get lost or too small to feel like you don’t have space to yourself. As a shorty at 5ft 2 there were some parts I had to be on tiptoes and watch out for random ledges you can drop down into. Likewise with all the selfie sticks! The water is said to be ancient and sterile so you don’t need to wash it off. There were outside showers however but I didn’t have my glasses so didn’t notice them. Yes it’s quite pricey but you don’t come to Whitianga every day so I think it’s well worth the experience. Don’t forget to bring your own towel as there is a small charge to use theirs.Hi There, Thank you for your beautiful and thorough review. - Nattayy56 contributionsGreat place to visitGreat place! We went early as it can sometimes get very busy and it was a much nicer experience. The cocktails are nice and service is great - only downside would be there is only one shower for both men’s and ladies in the disabled toilet - which isn’t ideal. Other than that is a good price for a great experienceHi There, thank you very much for your review. We are very pleased to hear that overall your experience with us was what you expected. - Tim MThree Hills, Canada263 contributionsIn another world...The Lost Spring is a little world all its own surrounded by the local community. If you didn't know it was there, you'd never know... The LS has four pools, each at different temps heated by thermals. I believe the coldest was 33C and the hottest 39C. I spent the majority of my time in the hottest. I booked a couple hours to soak and enjoyed not only the water but the surrounding rock, cave and foliage. If you like, there's a spa onsight along with a restaurant (which I did not take advantage of). I actually wondered 'what I'd do' sitting in a pool for two hours but the water was so soothing and coupled with friendly conversation, the time went by quickly. Less than average. I was excited to visit but it’s over priced and not very nice. Not convinced it was actually geo-thermal as quite cold, even in the hotter pool. The whole place was very tired and needs some work. Real shame

We had some downtime in Whitiaga and this place came recommend by our resort manager. In fact where we are staying the Hot Springs are connected to the property next store.
We did the basic 2 hour lagoon only package. There are two lagoons: one hotter than the other. Both are fine and it was nice but nothing spatular and for those that have been to Norway and visited the Blue Lagoon, this is nothing like this.
We had a couple of drinks where were ok.
So overall not bad...hint: go earl and avoid the crowds that are mentioned in some of the reviews below. We went at 10am on a Sunday--no real issues but it was filling up at 12pm.

Hi Darien, thank you for your review.
We understand our geo-thermal pools are not comparable to the Blue Lagoon, and we would never claim they are. Each experience is fantastic in their own right. We do not aspire to be in line with the Blue lagoon and what they offer, as their experience and atmosphere is very different to what we aspire to share and offer with our customers.
Although your experience was not what you had anticipated, we sure do hope you had a lovely time when visiting with us, none the less.

This is such a weird place. Go stoned with extremely low expectations like I did and you might be ok. This place is literally the opposite of luxurious though, feels like a zoo enclosure or a creepy theme park. Packed full of people, grubby and run down, like a strange Fiji themed leisure centre opened by your uncle who doesn't really understand experiences or hospitality.

Hey, sorry I don’t know. I’m sure you could find out on their website, or give them a call, as you’re in NZ so would only be a local call. I’m in Australia so can only wish I was there!

You drive south to the Coromandel Peninsula and stay in Whitianga. The Lost Spring is in Whitianga.
Check accommodation there and stay for a while.

Thanks for your question Elisa.
Most of our customers bring their own swimsuits. We do have some for purchase if you do not have any or need to purchase some.

Yes there is, my recommendation is to pay for the longer stay as you end up totally relaxing and enjoying the tranquility of the pools. Plus you can get awesome meals at the restaurant. 2018 prices are NZD$90 for 90 minutes and NZD$110 for a full day

If I am 10 weeks pregnant, am I able to sit in hot springs?
C23T
Whitianga, New Zealand13 contributions
Hi Gabfrog85 - we always advise any customers who are pregnant to check with their midwife that swimming in Geo-Thermal waters is ok for their pregnancy (as every pregnancy is different).
We would advise you to stay out of our Crater Lake pools as these pools exceed body temperature (38-42degrees) but our main and biggest pool sits between 28-36 degrees and should be fine. Just double check everything with your midwife.
I hope this helps - The Lost Spring Team.

Looking at earlier post regarding prices one states child prices the other states children over the age of 14.
Can someone clarify if children aged 7 & 3 are allowed. We were hoping to visit with our two grandsons in March

Hi there, Children need to be over the age of 14 to enter the complex - due to licensing restrictions and the sale of alcohol.
