Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not your cross country riding, this is downhill, fast, technical, challenging riding. The staff outfits and gives great advice with the bus giving increasing challenging rides in a escalation to increase your confidence and prepare you for the next challenge. The trails can be gentle to bone shaking (threatening) rides. If you ride within your skill, want to increase your technique and confidence, this is a great ride.

I did not think I would enjoy this - I was mistaken. I arrived at Whiteface Mountain Bike Park with neighborhood biking experience and thinking I had no business venturing onto this mountainous terrain. But I'm becoming more adventurous in my mid-life and made the decision to try it. Downhill Mike, owner/operator/overall great guy, gave us (me, my husband and son) a highly valuable tutorial prior to cutting us loose. We were outfitted with protective gear and bused up the hill to various trails - repeatedly. We had a great time, learned a lot and are eager for our next mountain biking excursion. The employees of the park are a really awesome bunch. Our thanks to them!
My advice to a newbee like me:
1. Wear all of the protective gear available.
2. When in doubt - walk your bike.
3. Don't ride your bike on the roads.
4. Visit the mountain brook that cascades down Whiteface - gorgeous.
5. Stay on the trails for beginners.
6. Enjoy the adrenaline rush!
7. Bring a picnic lunch and eat by the Ausable River - runs right by Whiteface.

Super friendly and helpful staff took care of my son and me for our first downhill mt biking experience. Loved every second of our trip.We both ride trailes but this was our first try with down hill.
The lovely lady driving the bus that took care of us and looked out after us.
Will be back soon for more adventure.
Highly recomend this place.

It was a great day to take a ride up Whiteface Mountain. Be prepared it's a little pricey, $22 per adult, 65 or older $15. It's a beautiful long ride up, what a beautiful ride, be sure to bring your camera. The plexiglass in the gondola is scraped up from skis but you can still get a couple good shots, however the best are from the top. One side you see lake placid the other is the beautiful mountains and valley. Very picturesque and breathtaking. Great to bring a picnic lunch with picnic tables. Absolutely a must visit. Very enjoyable day.

We came here with our 2 boys aged 12 and 16 as they wanted to do some downhill biking. The staff were really knoweledgeable and helpful. They helped us with choosing the hire bikes and gear (all included in price) and then Marcella spent the day shuttling us up to the area where the easier runs were. She was so lovely and interesting and knew all the trails well and could advise my son on how to tackle the harder ones.
Also included in the price is a ride on the Cloud Splitter Gondola which was fabulous for our picnic lunch. Up there is also where the serious downhill trails are for experienced downhill riders.
Very enjoyable but strenous day in this lovely part of the world

The trails were well maintained, the bikes were well kept (I rented), the staff was extremely nice and helpful, and overall it was a great time. I highly recommend putting this on your list when visiting lake placid.

Terrain is pretty intense in the upper mountain, but you get a nice break once you hit the lower mountain. The new shuttle service to the top of facelift has been key!

FYI. The bike park is privately owned and operated. Please note that some of the comments are based on Whiteface Mountain, not the Whiteface Mountain Bike Park. Our lift passes are $40.00 and come with unlimited gondola and shuttle bus runs. We even throw in a guided run for many.
