This isn't about the Information center. Don't go because it cost an outrageous amount to try and take a day trip to visit one of the NC lighthouses. It's not part of the NC Ferry system. It was going to cost my husband and I $58 for two tickets and to have to pay to park. I think the BHA... More

Visited Bald Head Island for the first time, which is accessed by ferry from Southport. No bridge and no cars on island. The ferry leaves from Deep Port Marina which is a few minutes from the Southport waterfront area (not Southport Marina, which is a boater’s marina with slips and docks). I rode my bike to the marina so I... More

This island is only accessible by ferry and on the island you have to bike, walk, or use a golf cart. Because so much of the island is a nature preserve, be sure to get a map and orient yourself and plan your hike or you could get turned around. Also, familiarize yourself with restroom locations because they are not... More

Friends of ours who have a place on the island invited us to spend time with them for a few days over the New Year. Travel to the island involves a ferry and parking. There is a foot ferry ride from Southport that costs $23. round trip per person for the 20 or so minute ride (cars are not allowed... More

Too much money to be ferried over crammed in like sardines. Then pay out the nose for a golfcart, all food and drinks are very pricey. It's just another island. Most places weren't wheelchair friendly.

Three of us took the ferry from Southport, NC, to Bald Head Island where we rented a golf cart (which was reserved), got a sandwich at Delphina's it was delicious, next we toured the island, stopped at the Conservancy, went to the beach, walked on the beach and enjoyed being in the water. We took the ferry back to Southport... More

Bald Head Island is beautiful but don't expect to find a wealth of information unless you have the wealth to spend.
