Cool lighthouse. Very historic but only one piece of an amazing island. One of the great ones along the NC coast. Do a tour from Corolla to Bald Head

A bit of history and nice view of the island from the top. I would rather spend my time on the beach but nice for a afternoon or morning break.

Awesome old lighthouse with lots of history. About the only attraction that is reasonably priced ($6). Tough climb, lighthouse needs some TLC but a beautiful view once the top is reached

We took the two hour historic tour of Bald Head Island which included touring and climbing the lighthouse. This lighthouse was unique in that the stairs to the top (103) were wooden instead of the usual iron staircases found in most lighthouses. They seemed much easier to climb then most with generous landings. The last flight of stairs are straight... More

Old baldy is a great experience for any age. The stairs and entrance to the top are a bit scary and claustrophobic but it is cool to think that you are standing in the oldest light house in the state. To think that generations before you stood in that same light house is pretty cool considering North Carolina's rich pirate... More

Thank you so much for the great review! We love it when visitors understand and appreciate the 200 years of rich history that Old Baldy has stood sentinel over. If you are back next year we are celebrating Old Baldy's bicentennial with exciting events almost every month. Stay tuned for our calendar of events at oldbaldy.org. More

Wanted to see a lighthouse. We got to see it. Was somewhat underwhelmed by it all, but am still glad we went. It is not currently operating, but we knew that when we went. It was a tight squeeze getting to the very top, and it was quite warm up there. But what was disappointing once there was the fact... More

We had 5 kids with us (ranging from 3 to 7) and all went up fine but there are some tight and steep spots. The very top is small so we had to take turns but if offers a great eagle eye view of the island. Kind of expensive though for what it is.

We rented a golf cart to explore the island in general and made sure we paid the small fee to climb to the top of the lighthouse. The views are beautiful from the top; however, it was very hot at the top and a small area to view the surroundings. The history information in the gift shop is interesting.

I went to this lighthouse with 5 kids. Yes I said that. 5! Ages 3 - 8 years old. While I don't recommend going in the gift shop (too many things to break) we did really like the light house. It was a lot of steps to get to the top and it wore the kids out nicely. When you... More

Bald Head Island was an interesting place to visit. It had a lot of historical information. The tour of the lighthouse was self guided but they provide you with information on a phone app to give you the historical information. The views from the top of the lighthouse are very nice. You can see the whole island.
