We are staying in Banner Elk and had an afternoon to drive to Boone for a break from skiing - the Mast Store was on our must do list and it was worth the stop. Not special enough if you aren't planning to walk around the downtown because it's still just a store but theres a lot packed inside that... More

They had a great Labor Day sale that was extended to a back parking area. We found some great buys to take on our trip to Iceland One sales person saw that the line to check out was long and so he personally walked us inside to get checked out. He was very nice. Everybody is so helpful and nice.

Store in the style of an old fashioned mercantile. Wonderful selection of candy, toys, home decor, fashion and hiking/camping accessories. Always a fun visit.

Mast General Store leans towards country clothes, working digs, boots--lots 0f boots--and outdoor clothing for all ages. ASU students find lots to interest them there, The store is right at the heart of downtown King Street and attracts casual shoppers and tourists alike. For the authentic old time general store experience, of course, you will want to drive out Hy 105... More

We always stop at Mast General Store when we are in the Boone area. The kids love the candy barrels and old fashioned toys. My husband and I love the hiking, dog, and cooking products. Just a great overall store, with something g for everyone

This shop has been in Boone for a long time although it is not the original it is still great. It has a little of everything for everyone including children. They have a candy room with new and old candy you can purchase by the pound, clothing, shoes, camping equipment and housewares. Truly a treasure.

Great place to go with the whole family. Store has a little of everything. So much fun to check the merchandise out. From the oldest to the youngest in the family you will find something that will make you smile. A favorite place to shop from locals to visitors in the Boone area.

This location, as well as the original location in Valle Crucis, have a large selection of home goods, clothing, shoes/boots, almost anything you might look for in an old fashioned general store!

Our kids absolutely LOVED the candy barrels. We have 4 children, so we limited them to 4 pieces of candy each. Paid $27 for 16 single size pieces of candy. Absolutely insane. Cool experience, but make sure you take a 2nd mortgage on your house first...

172vanessa, That does seem a little over-the-top. The Candy Barrel candy is priced by the pound, so I'm not sure how 16 pieces cost that much unless you also had some priced candy in the mix. In addition to the "bulk" candy in the barrels, we do have some individually-priced candies, like higher quality chocolate and truffle bars, that could... More
