Family with young and older teens-Great activity

Enjoyed this as we had to figure out how to entertain an 18 & 16 year old. In addition, we had a 3 & 4 year old to entertain. It was a great experience and kept us all busy.

We stopped by here with our 5 and 8 year old as a last minute decision and so glad we did. The kiddos loved sifting for gems and came home with 5 large zip lock bags of semi precious/precious stones. The facility is open rain or shine and has indoor mine flumes that are easy to use. The guys running... More

We were very impressed with Foggy Mountain. We purchased the $70 bucket which was perfect for 4 children ages 10 to 15. After they finished sifting, Daniel the manager sorted the gems. He was very helpful as he identified the gems, explained their worth, and explained where the different gems could be found. He was very informative and answered all... More

This is such a fun activity for any age. Buckets come $30 or $70, there are more expensive options. Always walk away with a quart bag filled with beautiful gems. The staff are very friendly and after go through what you collected and explain each stone type. They can also cut the stones for you and make some into jewelry... More

We had been to other gem mines, but this one was the best so far. Staff were very informed and helpful. Had good selections of gems in the buckets and easy charts around to compare to. After we had mined our stones, they walked us through what we had mined and even have cutting services that you could use then... More

This is a "gem" of a place. We took 4 kids and had a blast. The best part is that afterwards the staff sorts out what you found and teaches you about the stones. They also let you get them cut into wearable stones. Ask for Caleb and Daniel.

Bought the $70 bucket, gave us a good 30 minutes of digging and sifting. Staff was helpful afterwards to identify the stones, and includes one being cut and polished, which is sent home in about a month. A fun few hours for kids to get their hands dirty and find some treasures.

Went inside because of the rain. Staff was very helpful. This is a place that offer buckets of rocks with stones from all over, not just local. We had a good time digging through our bucket and the specimens we found were large.

The whole family had a great time sifting through the rocks for our gems and found three bags full. The employees were great and very knowledgable about the gems. After we collected our gems, the staff sorted them on the counter and showed us what each type would look like when cut and polished. They have sterling silver and gold... More

You cannot go wrong with the Foggy Mountain Gem Mine. We visited them on Christmas Eve and had such a great time we returned 5 days later for more! We got the motherlode both times and boy did it not disappoint. Not only did we get some really great gems (large sizes and quantities too), but the staff is so... More
